I recently received an email from a company based in Luton, Bedfordshire, offering completely free cavity wall insulation under an ECO grant. Has anyone else come across this? Should I trust them? Also, what exactly are ECO grants? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

If you didn't approach the company prior to getting the email it's spam

There are numerous schemes that vary over time.
The government offers grants to pay for various things including insulation as we need to be more energy efficient as a nation.
Many of them have criteria, either on the construction side or on the income side.
Many schemes are for people below a certain income.
We had cavity wall insulation done for £99 a few decades ago.
At the time our house was built the building regs didn't require it and then the government thought it was a good idea.
It might be genuine, it might be that your walls don't meet the criteria or that your don't meet the criteria.
It could also be that they can't offer you a grant but it's a selling opportunity for them.
If you're interested in it then you need to get more information.
It could be genuine or it may not.

I've been contacted by the same company. They conducted the survey and I'm now waiting for their response.0
