Are the Jan/Feb birthdays people you still buy for for Christmas @Coxy11? Otherwise Id also knock them off the list for gift buying for birthdays. Ive got the T shirt for the confusion over that one when my understanding of what a relative said wasnt what they meant. We ended up back buying Xmas gifts for several years when the plan had been to stop.

Hope BIL's treatment is successful. I remember when Mr S was diagnosed with Cancer when the kids were small (caught at an early stage thankfully and treated). It completely consumes the household. Hope you are starting to feel better too

The Jan bday in our family is my Mums. I usually  put money in her card as she struggles knowing what she'd like/need so soon after Christmas (so do I).

Im still tempted to buy some more gifts in the sale. Around 3 more then I'll stop. Whats putting me off is the state our bank account was in at the end of last month - we scrimped thru to the end. Whats making me think go for it is I once saw a ML money show where an audience member asked if there was an optimum time to buy presents and Martin answered 'January' and I know that the price Ill pay now  for similar stuff is less than what Ill pay in the future. Hmmmm give myself another day or so to think about it, but leaning towards getting.

Re - the new Christmas thread. Is someone ok starting it? . I would mess it up otherwise I'd volunteer. I'm going to guess that princesskitty is still struggling with health issues within her household as I don't think I've seen her post for a while.

Yes @Spendless birthdays are DS2 and DS1. SIL is same day as DS2 but she will just receive a card. Need to talk to DSis tomorrow about gifts as can imagine she’s already thinking about what to get my two boys.

I feel a lot better but tinnitus since NYE loud pub music is awful. Actually cannot wait for the referral to get it sorted - wont be seen until July apparently.

Work have put me back until Wednesday so I might use Monday to go hunting for any bargains that might be left. DH will be at work so I’ll have some time to myself.

I can start a new thread but don’t want to tread on toes. What would we call it?

Like @spendless said I assume @princesskitty29 is very busy irl at the moment as she hasn’t posted for quite a while so I’m happy for you to start a new thread if you’re happy to do so.

I’m not great at coming up with ideas for titles and I’m sure one if you will have a great suggestion but off the top
    candy cane lane
    santas little helpers
    tis the season
    Christmas crackers

Dds here so better go as she wants to go shopping

I think the threads have mostly been named after Christmas songs. On the first page it lists the previous ones. Might be post 5 or 6.

Im currently out have just finished work and waiting for a friend to finish before we grab lunch. I'll look up a suggestion list later if we could do with some ideas.

@spendless the oven or any large appliance packing up over Xmas is a nightmare though small consolation the turkey was cooked before it decided to pack up,  have you manged to sort it yet?
I was absolutely fuming Xmas eve I knew she’d drag it out but even I wasn’t expecting them to stay so late - I am not doing this year don’t care what anyone else says - might seriously consider the idea or going out for the day.
i think your right about the post Xmas sales most if them seem to start early even before Xmas now so that there’s virtually nothing left within days certainly can’t see anything worth getting in boots going to 70% off - popped in today and there was maybe a handful of random bits left on an end shelf the rest was already being restocked with other items so looks like I missed out there. Definitely worth picking up a few more bits if you can find anything suitable.

@coxy11 glad your starting to feel better sounds like you had a rough few days. Tinnitus sucks you have my sympathy. Mines not been too bad lately as long as I have white noise but when you’re having a flare up it can be seriously debilitating. I had a whole bunch of test last year and thankfully everything came back ok so they’ve pretty much said there’s nothing they can do sorry you just gotta learn to live it with.
    Hope bil treatment goes ok

Very disappointed I Didn’t find anything in the sales today - we did only go to a couple of shops in the end as it was soo busy in town and dd wanted some new gym wear but most if the Xmas stock was gone and what was left wasn’t stuff I’d have a use for. I did pick up a 3pk of bottles bags for 21p & some heavily discounted chocolates but found nothing for the present stash.

Only really have 1 birthday to buy for before aug this year as we’re hoping to go on holiday around may/June time so agreed we wouldn’t buy birthday gifts for each other -we’ll put money towards doing something while we’re away instead.

    Hi all,

I have all the links etc. to start a new thread, just need a title. As @Spendless said, they've previously been Christmas songs so here's what we've had before:

    Frosty the Snowman - 2025
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer - 2024
Jingle All the Way - 2023
    A Jolly Holly Christmas - 2022
Driving Home For Christmas - 2021
    Step Into Christmas - 2020
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas - 2019
Rocking around the Christmas Tree - 2018
I wish it could be Christmas every day - 2017
It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year - 2016
    Walking in a Winter Wonderland - 2015
    Stop The Cavalry - 2014
The Holly and the Ivy - 2013
    Let It Snow – 2012

And these are the top 10 Christmas songs (apparently):

    1.      "All I Want for Christmas Is You" - Mariah Carey

    2.      "Last Christmas" - Wham!

    3.      "White Christmas" - Bing Crosby

    4.      "Jingle Bell Rock" - Bobby Helms

    5.      "Silent Night" - Various Artists

    6.      "Feliz Navidad" - José Feliciano

    7.      "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)" - Nat King Cole

    8.      "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" - Gene Autry

    9.      "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" - Andy Williams
    10.   "Santa Baby" - Eartha Kitt

Let me know which you'd prefer - or something else. I quite fancy Santa Baby - but happy with anything tbh!!
