I finally managed to pay that £15 from the old change tin into my bank. The post office would only accept it if it was the proper amounts in the proper bags and I've needed a 2p piece for ages!
I'll pay that straight off the T credit card now.

    I've had a realisation.
I was already in panic mode by 3rd, that I might not last the month with the money left. I have pots, I have a spreadsheet. How did this happen?
Well, you know when you are about to start a diet but have one last blow out first, I've realised I do that with my wages. I have somehow tricked myself that the money I spend on payday, usually for things I didn't buy last month,  before I send money off to their accounts and pots, doesn't count. It's just free money that's there and has to be spent quickly before I have to do the paying and splitting, and sending off to their proper places.
It's not a huge amount of money, but it's still ridiculous that I do this and it definitely impacts everything else for the rest of the month. It's completely illogical and infuriating! I think it comes from the old feelings of being so poor and so in debt that I almost panic buy. The brain is a very cunning thing!
The money that you spend on payday still comes out of your wages, who knew!?!?!!??
Anyway, I'm glad I've realised now. I'm going to have to plan to sit down on payday and go through the spreadsheet and send everything off to the right place before I am allowed to spend a single penny.

Yes, but maybe that spend can be included (depending on how much it is) so on payday you keep back £50 for a 'spend before you start' pot. Maybe calculating every penny leads to a 'poor me, I'm working hard and can't even treat myself' mentality. Maybe you can be easier on yourself...but not if it derails you for the whole month...just adding an alternative viewpoint.

10% of your debt has gone, so you are obviously doing rather well  :)

The brain does indeed get up to some cunning and downright silly things! Well done on acknowledging it, and definitely make a pot that some money goes straight into for 'thing I want and no justification required'.
I always find it interesting that so many people say they do better with cash as card money is imaginary money, I'm the opposite- I budget from what is in my account for the month and as soon as it's cash I'm like 'well it's come off the account budget so clearly I can fritter it, the account doesn't know' 👀😂

It's funny isn't it. When we start we think we know how to budget, how we can manage and what we do spending wise but you learn stuff about yourself along the way and every month we get a little bit smarter, a little bit more self aware and a little bit closer to that end goal.

Well hasn't this site been annoying over the last few days! Again!
I've had another slight setback as a big DD went out for my Dad's storage unit, and his card isn't working for me to get the money back. And he is out of the country. I am considerably out of pocket for the foreseeable.
In other news, I have applied for a balance transfer card a couple of months early. Next year I have 2 BT cards ending in September and November so if I waited til September this year to apply for a new card (when interest free period ends on card 1) I would have 3 ending in a 3 month period next year. Plus I want to do a bank switch for some cash and I didn't want to wait til October. It makes sense in my head. I should have paid another 3k off my cards by this time next year so I'm hoping 3 cards will then become 2.
Next payday I think I will actually sit with pen and paper and hand write the relevant bits from my outgoings spreadsheet. I think handwriting it will help it sink in to my head and stop that ridiculous behaviour of feeling like I have a short period of free money. What can I say, I love a spreadsheet but I am ultimately old school.

My new BT card came through (no card or letter but it's showing on the app), so I can get the Tesco CC transferred over this weekend. I think the DD for that goes out on Monday though so I might have to wait until that clears so I know the final balance.
I seem to be spending a lot on my animals at the moment, or maybe I am just paying more attention, so I need to increase the amount I send to my recently set up pet pot.
I think that's all I have to report right now.
    Have a lovely weekend everyone!
