On the subject of money saving (and I think we should mention it from time to time as this is MSE ). Since I cut down alcohol significantly I don't really see much difference to my household spending as my husband drinks and I buy myself nice alcohol free options to enjoy at home. When I go out with friends however I really notice the difference. We split the food bill equally because, well any inequality in the cost of what we order will even out over time, but we ask for a separate drinks bill and each pay for what we drink. I am out this evening at a fairly low priced restaurant and I expect to pay about £3.50 for a large bottle of sparkling water and the same for a coffee. My friends on the other hand will probably spend at least five or six times that each on their drinks. We will all have a good time 😀).6 -
