If you're on the State Pension, check NOW if you're eligible for Pension Credit as it's your last chance to apply and still get the Winter Fuel Payment. MoneySavingExpert.com founder Martin Lewis has issued an urgent plea to share this message with anyone you know who may be impacted, as it's likely that 700,000 eligible State Pensioners are missing out.

Call for extension to winter fuel payment deadline
The Liberal Democrats have called for an extension to Saturday's deadline to access winter fuel payments, warning tens of thousands of older people could miss out.

What always amazes me in this discussion is that the biggest benefit from claiming pension credit (beyond the income) is not the £200-£300 WFA but the fact you will pay zero council tax automatically. I expect those not claiming pension credit aren't claiming council tax support (benefit) either - that could be worth potentially £1k to £2k a year and more depending on your council tax band!
Free glasses/dental care also becomes an entitlement - which if you need new glasses or a crown again is worth far more than WFA potentially. A crown or dentures costs £319 on the NHS!
Why is that not mentioned either?!0
