So, I have a Tax Free Deduction, but when I enter the amount (which can only be a positive number) and select Tax Free Deduction, it adds it on rather that deducts. Am I doing something wrong?

The MSE Income tax calculator.TadleyBaggie said:Enter it where?
Near the bottom of the calculator there is a field to enter 'Allowances/deductions' where you can only enter positive figures. Then further down you have to state whether it's an allowance or a deduction. but it seems to always treat it as an allowance even when you select 'deduction'.0 -
Have tried a few figures and it appears that whether you use allowance or deduction and enter monthly or yearly the figure you put in is added to the yearly tax allowance. So whatever of the four possible combinations you enter the answer is always the same.Alan554 said:

The MSE calculator has never been very reliable so probably best to try another or learn about PAYE so you do not need one.1
