NHS widow's pension & probate

My friend's widow will receive a small NHS pension from her late husband, as the nominated beneficiary. Is there any aspect to this that needs to be declared for probate when valuing his estate?

No, most pensions fall outside of the estate and defined benefit ones definitely do.1
