Sainsbury's voucher policy - Help needed

Options
Am going to Sainsbury's tomorrow to buy their BOGOF baby wipes and Pampers Easy Up's at Half Price which I have seen in "Shop But Don't Drop", but, am normally an Asda shopper so am unsure of Sainsbury's policies with regards to vouchers.

I have allsorts of vouchers so the type (internet/magazine) isn't the problem for me but don't know wether or not it is for them, do they have to be product specific or can I just use any old vouchers and does it have to be under 10-15% of the total as in Asda?

Any help gratefully received.

Whilst I am thinking about it, what does "pin" mean in context to "Pin Money", have read about it on here and know what it's all about, just wondering where the name came from as I heard Janice Battersby say it on Corrie this evening too.

Just replying to myself because I didn't want to go to bed with the post count and thanks received staying at THAT all night. Too superstitious for my own good.

Night all and thanks in advance.

In days gone by women, after they left school went out to work to earn 'pin' money until they got married. Once married, they gave up work and became a housewife. Pin money really was just money you earnt to keep you going until you found a husband! Don't know why its called pin though!

Sainsbury's official policy is to only accept vouchers for things that you buy, unfortunately. Although I've heard that, years ago, they accepted them for anything, but not any more.icon9.gif

However, there have been reports on this site of people being able to use vouchers for stuff they hadn't bought at Sainsbury's, so I don't think their tills recognise what the vouchers are for. I guess it helps if you're doing a huge shop and the cashier can't remember what you've bought (unless it's a real jobsworth who checks everything! ).

Sainsbury's would get their money back even if you did manage to use a voucher.

    HTH :)

    Thank you both.

I did find something last night about their policy on vouchers/coupons but it was quite old and the same as what you have said Dormouse. Am gonna make a good saving anyhoo, just thought I might be able to push it that little bit further.

So, in the context of Corrie, Pin Money is any money that is bought into the household by the woman. Am still interested to know why it's called "Pin". Do we think it could have anything to do with pinny's and when you get married you get a apron, because my aunt used to say that you only called it an apron after you got married.

    Thanks again.

    According to this website http://dictionary.reference.com/wordoftheday/archive/2004/06/24.html

It is so called pin money. Because women where given the money by there husbands to buy pins.

    Hope that helps.

Amazing what you can find when you google ;)
