MSE News: Martin calls for more financial education resources for teachers

Teachers need to be "properly resourced" and supported to deliver much-needed financial education in schools, Martin Lewis has urged. Speaking to the House of Commons Education Committee, the MoneySavingExpert.com founder also recalled the "bloody farce" of having to fund and self-publish the free Your Money Matters textbook as a private individual.

    Some of our pupils used to do the London Institute of Banking & Finance qualifications at one point.  (Although they absolutely hated the course and got very poor grades but that was more a reflection on the pupils rather than the course.)

    Hunt wants to cut taxes which will reduce funding for vital services, including education, at a time when they really need a boost (they've been cut for the past 13 or so years). Let's hope this doesn't wash with the vast majority of intelligent British people at election time who should look beyond a few hundred quid saved in their pocket each year which will inevitably lead to worse education, poorer health and social care services, more potholes, fewer or worse council services... (list goes on) and a new government is brought in that doesn't base policy on how many votes it will get from its own supporters
