  • Hi there, I would put the £107 in savings. Maybe part regular saver with good rate and part easy access. Keep it in your account and either use it to fund full and final offers, or save it for your new kitchen. There is no point in paying more, unless you are really desperate to see the debts gone. Personally I would just take them as an ongoing life lesson (whilst you are paying them) and vow to do better for myself by saving for MY future. Good luck V x

Very good advice, thank you! I have regular savings accounts for the annual spends (house ins, car ins, service etc) so will look at opening another for actual savings.

  • Is it just me, or do others feel like they have to check every payment/receipt/bill etc? I had the dentist for a tiny filling and another to replace one that was done incorrectly late last year. Got the bill and they'd charged me for the replacement which was meant to be FOC. Call me cynical but it's almost like they make the most of people being out their comfort zone or full of anaesthetic and just charge what they like. Annoying.

  • Can't believe it's Monday again already. Had a productive weekend, but rather spendy.
Had to invest in a new brush for the garden as the last one's seen better days. Got the back patio washed and scrubbed, also bought stuff to spray on the path and slabs, and weedkiller. Need to wait for a dry day when I don't have the dog to spray everything. Hopefully get it done this week when he's in daycare.

Had a friend's birthday party so that needed a card, present and drink, although it was in the house so brought my own rather than bar prices. Also had far too many shots for someone who doesn't drink much. Yesterday was a write off, due to said shots.

Payday tomorrow and I've got £14 left in my spends account, and £80 in the main account so I can transfer it to savings ready for account resets tomorrow.

Standing orders have gone out, most of the bills have been paid with just one left to go. Also did some more surveys, so the money has gone into my savings account.

I bought a couple of fleece zippers which were in the sale for £10 as I need something a bit lighter to wear taking the dog out. I'm also looking for a lightweight but long waterproof. I'm quite tall so a lot of ladies waterproofs sit awkwardly on my rather large bottom so ride up and annoy me no end. I'm trying to work out if I can justify a Vivi Mari raincoat at £89 - they look like they'd be long and wide enough but keep me dry. Or do I go for a cheaper poncho from Amazon, that may or may not be fully waterproof.

I worked out my new waterproof walking shoes were not waterproof, as I got to the middle of the soggy wet field and had very wet feet so I'm keen not to make the same mistake again.

I bought the Vivi Mari raincoat, but if it's not absolutely perfect it'll go back. I have a few pairs of trainers to list on Vinted, I'll try to do that tonight.

I had to take the hound out at lunchtime and met a dog walking friend, and a new-ish neighbour I haven't spoken to before so we had a lovely walk in the sun before getting back to work. What a difference it makes when it's not chucking it down (that needs to wait for the Vivi Mari coat to arrive, then it can pour as much as it likes!)

I have a voucher to use at Asda, so after this evening's walk I'll head there. I'm a little bit obsessed with YS and Too Good To Go bags - Aldi ones are brilliant!

Two new tyres purchased and fitted today although I'm a little bit annoyed that the purchase hasn't tracked on Quidco, and there's no way to submit the claim without an order number. I've sent them a message so we'll see what comes back.
Still waiting for my new poncho/raincoat coming, I didn't realise it's coming from Germany and for once I'm desperate for some rain to try it out

Thanks, it's hard to see your own progress sometimes when you're right in the thick of it!

I use Prolific for surveys. They put me on a waiting list initially and said they'd let me know when they had space. I tried with another email address and I got on straight away. They're good and I've earned a good bit extra which can either pay off some debt or let me have the odd treat

    Thanks for letting me know.

I know what you mean about not seeing progress I’ve just set up a diary as a bit of a motivation as I get a bit dispirited feeling I’m not getting anywhere at times and that what I pay off goes back on.
