I have decided to keep a plastic box in the fridge with a lid to pop any bits of leftovers over the next couple of days. Using basic food hygiene principles, I intend to use the contents to make a soup.
I think that there can be a lot of potential waste over the Christmas period so 'Britain fights back' with the plastic box idea!;)

I am determioned not to waste food this christmas. I have already frozen a load of pork, a load of mince pies and sausage rolls and half a chocolate log. I have stripped the turkey and will freeze what we don't eat later. I have put the leftover veg in the fridge. I may do the same as you and make soup.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

I didn't know you could freeze mince pies. That will certainly save waste.
I have loads of ham / cheese sandwiches left from the buffet yesterday and I'm sure I read they could be frozen as well.
I also have mini quiches, mini sausages and plenty of turkey from today which will go in the freezer.
I like the plastic tub idea, as my aim is to not waste any food. I don't do too badly but there's room for improvement. One of the things I worry about is, as I batch cook, a lot of our dinners have previously been cooked, and I've always thought you shouldn't reheat food more than once. Is this right?

I've cut all the meat off the turkey crown. It'll get bagged up tomorrow. The carcass is in the slow cooker making stock overnight.
Only cooked enough veges for us so I'll have to have a think about what to put in the soup once the stock is made.
PS
I decided to freeze the stock in half pint quantities in the end and we have four or five meals-worth of meat all bagged up and in the freezer!:wave:0 -
We were that couple that people like to say "ooh, they've bought a lot!" when we were staggering around the supermarket with a full trolley. But in our defence, we never buy stuff like chocolate biscuits and crisps normally, and even our 6kg turkey (for the two of us!) won't go to waste. Boxing Day is always about HUGE leftover sandwiches, with everything in (including leftover roasties, brussels and anything else), then I'll make a big curry and freeze any uneaten bits, we'll pick at some for sarnies for the next few days and I'll end up making stock from the carcass and boiling up soup with lots of cheap root veg and barley. So although we looked like spendthrifts when we were doing our Christmas shop, and it cost twice a normal shop, it will actually last us twice as long. And we all need some treats0

You could freeze the stock until some veg (or veg peelings, see another thread on here) come your way.
I made stock overnight last night from three small chicken carcasses (previously frozen) ready for today's veg peelings, spare veg and surplus salad items about to go out of date. It's all in the slow cooker right now.

My Mum insisted on roasting some pork yesterday, as well as the Turkey and the pork remains untouched!!
I have split it & put it in the freezer until I can think of something to do with it.
My question is, can I put meat that has already been roasted in the slow cooker? The pork is a bit tough and I thought about making it into a curry using the SC to try and soften it up a bit.
What do you think?

We bought some of those duck breasts from Lidls and they were huge! Lordy knows what sort of ducks they were.......
However, delicious as they were, there's half of each one left - what on earth can we do with them please?0
