Hi,
I got some roast potatoes and parsnips from M&S and it says do not reheat on the back. We didn't it all and would like to make bubble and squeak tomorrow. Anyone any ideas why it says do not reheat and if I really shoudn't or not?
Thanks.

I dont see any reason why you cant or couldnt use in B&S....we do it all the time.
Maybe its just an advertising/buying ploy for you to buy more than you need.
It should be fine.

The reheating thing may have to do with how old the food is. As long as you've kept the food in the fridge I see no problem about giving the leftovers a really good fry.
As a student I fried all sorts of weird leftovers, and I'm still in one piece..................0 -
I am bubble and squeaking my M&S ones tomorrow too!!:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0

I could be talking crazy here, but maybe its the packaging it came in? It only can recommend using the aluminium or whatever 1 time for heating and then they don't want to be responsible if something goes wrong with it??? I'm thinking of the packaging you tear the film off and put straight in the oven. Just a thought.

Thanks for all the replies everyone..
I think I will give it a go and if it taste funny or anything then I wont bother but I think it'll be fine!0 -
just scare tactics. vegatables esp can be kept in the fridge and then reheated in B&S ok.
done it many times with no problems.
i just love B&S.Get some gorm.0 -
well I'm reheating all my leftovers tomorrow including my roast potatoes
These sort of instructions on packet food make me mad, no wonder we are losing confidence in our own ability to cook and to use food economically, and no wonder we throw out such a massive amount of food that is fit to eat.
At least if you've made it yourself there are no daft 'use by' and 'not reheat' messages on the food0 -
I was just going to ask the same question but about Marks and Spencer turkey crown. It says on the back "so not reheat" , but I have several slices left over and I would like to do something with them apart from sarnies . Maybe fry them up and have with roasties ???
Any ideas if this will be safe to do ?0 -
we always have Xmas dinner again on Boxing day ... & no I don't cook an entire new lot
just thoroughly re-heat the leftovers ...turkey crown (free-range, yum) for us too
anyway, our lot seem to have survived for many years unharmed
maybe 'they' tell you not to re-heat in case the quality's not quite as good & they might get complaints0 -
I'm sure that some of these 'do not reheat' instructions are companies 'covering themselves' in case people do not reheat properly - IYSWIM.
If you re-heat things until they are piping hot all the way through, they should be fine. We've been eating 'bubble and squeak/fry-up' for years with no problems at all - just make certain that EVERYTHING is thoroughly heated all the way through and enjoy!0
