I'm sorry to hear you had a tough patch. You found a way through it though and you have the support of your neighbour which is great.
I wonder if the speed of change is somehow triggering this? You have pressures of work as well as changing your physical environment and dealing with memories, and that's a lot, so perhaps the pressures are finding an outlet? That's just a thought.

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!2 -

That's interesting as he is the one you rarely seem to talk about. Even a temporary home might help you through this time. Did you set out to buy him ('I need a Fell pony') or did he (or someone else) talk you into having him?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Cherryfudge that was what I was sort of wondering too. Lots of changes, the brain likes familiar even if familiar was carp. i actually cannot pick out his feet and I had a behaviourist out on Friday as I had decided to sort this out. I tried to do what she said on Sunday and just could not manage. I feel there is shades of "wont" that I am not comfortable with at this time. Too much more than I can cope with.
I bought him because it is a lovely breed and I needed a companion so that i could ride my Charming Cob and Most Handsome would stop having nervous breakdowns. However I (a) didn't really think it through and (b) the seller who was a 'friend' was less than truthful about him. He is a very lovely chap, adores people but he is young and I just don't have the time to sort him out, or to be honest, the experience. I have had opinionated horses before and always worked through it, even Most Handsome has its days of "wont and bet you can't make me" but i feel I can negotiate and usually win out but Baby Fell is more than I can deal with. He has a problem with his hooves which does not cause him any pain but simply i cannot treat because the naughty boy won't pick his feet up. This has made me re-think what I am going to do with him. I did get to the point of healing the feet but I live on sand and they have got bad again and honestly I am at my wits end with that and it made me rethink what on earth I am doing with an unbroken, almost feral pony.
I struggle with time and the Fell Pony is not getting the time or the attention he deserves. I should have got an "older been there seen it done it and need an OAP home" to keep Most Handsome company. Instead i have the complete opposite and I am not really getting anywhere with him and whenever I try to handle him he sets about trying to knock me over. I think we have not really bonded although I look at him and end up smiling because he is adorable, but, handling him is becoming a struggle and I think I would be better to admit that now than let this situation get any worse. I'm not sure I can even sell him tbh but I need to try and I need to find a more suitable oldie that I can cope with.
I really wish I had thought it through beforehand, but, the rescues didn't have anything I could have and I'd given up riding because Most Handsome could not be left in the field on his own. Baby Fell has been a sterling companion, and worth his weight in gold but I am very aware I am not doing him or me any favours.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

If you can't sell him, could you swap him for an oldie?
