Cherryfudge said:Lovely stuff thanks! I will have to keep a look out for vegetable glycerine, it's possibly right under my nose but I've not noticed it.
I put the gloves on, dampened them, sprinkled on bicarb and spent a bit of time rubbing them together. It's too early to see how much effect that's had, but they seem okay. I'm not looking for super-clean as that won't last five minutes out of doors. It would be nice to have them more pliable, though. Once they are dried I'll start on the coconut oil treatment.
I’ve cleaned nubuck gardening gloves with saddle soap, as it doesn’t really matter what they look like.Fashion on the Ration

If you add the glycerine to the water for blowing soap bubbles, it makes them last longer. Just a couple of drops. We used to take the bubble blowing stuff (liquid dish soap and glycerine as well as pipe cleaner to make hoops for dipping and blowing) to our family picnics. Had a lot of people from other picnics join us too. Lot easier to clean up outside like that.9

@weenancyinAmerica that’s interesting about the bubbles. Our grandchildren love bubbles. I shall be looking to see if I have some glycerin for next week.6

You are all a great source of advice! I couldn't find the saddle soap that I thought was in the shed but I may have secreted it in my gardening drawer. I want it out anyway for some other leather.
I may get distracted if allowed unsupervised in Sains baking aisle, especially if they have things I don't get at the two nearby supermarkets. Still, it's all in a good cause, even if it does result in yet more baking ingredients.
By the way, once I'd washed the gloves from the basket, box and carrier bag, I had to put another load to wash as I discovered a small bag of odd gloves which look suspiciously like the partners for the ones I'd already found. Once they are dry I'll have lots of fun pairing them up.
I might just need a thread entitled 'Make do, Mend and Multiply'.
I used up two portions of casserole for us teas... a tiny bit more fridge space has appeared, into which marched five jars of marmalade that might go green otherwise.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Minimise: Two pairs of still-good-but-not-needed DB size brushed cotton sheets for the CS. The bags are multiplying rapidly so I'll have to ask DS when he can give me a lift there.
Make Do: I have two identical SB size throws that I was going to donate but I've decided to sew them together to fit a DB. Also on the sewing pile is a DB size duvet cover to be turned into a lined door curtain. I have some curtain tape in my haberdashery box so no cost other than my time. When that's done the door curtain that's being replaced might become cushion covers. Oh my, I'm making work for myself again!
@Cherryfudge - I understand your Make Do, Mend & Multiply suggestion only too well!Be kind to others and to yourself too.6 -
The two SB size throws that I was going to sew together have turned into a Minimise rather than Mend. I did pin them together but realised, when I picked them up to use the sewing machine, they were very heavy and would be even heavier when they came out of the washing machine. Too much for little old me so they're in the CS pile. Tbh, I was never very keen on them anyway!Be kind to others and to yourself too.8

Well done @YorksLass for pinning them first. It would have been such a waste of effort to have realised they were too heavy after you had sewn them together. It’s good to recognise one’s own limitations sometimes and think of the joy those throws will bring to someone new.7
