Count me in this year too please. Like most I am trying to live a more sustainable life, reduce plastic use etc.
I love cooking, growing my own and hate waste, although I’m useless at sewing, kitting or anything like that….can just about manage to sew a button but willing to learn.Well Behaved women seldom make history

I am planning a no buy year. That is no buying stuff. Essentials will be bought but only when I have run out completely. So lots of make do and mend ahead for me.11

So many helpful videos to show you how to make/ repair/ sew/ knit/ cook etc. You name it and I bet there is a video to show you how (at least one ...... probably loads!)I have got my sewing machine working again, from watching YouTube vids and plan on using it more this year to reduce my stash, not easy when 2 lovely people bought me fabrics for Christmas which was incredibly generous of them. I have enough on hand to make whatever I need so no buying!!Definitely joining please, be fun to see what can be done without buying anything new.Happy New Year too, let’s hope for a good one.Saving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

Thanks for the welcome, I set up my new sewing machine today and mended a pair of work trousers. I am gifting my old machine to a local girl who loves making but currently does not have a machine. It's in good condition but I'm getting it serviced as I don't want her to have any problems with it8

I joined this thread a couple of years ago (I think) and it made me more aware of how things were made, anyway this year i want to buy clothes from a CS or secondhand, so they would be the mending bit and make do whilst minimising the cost. I am able to alter and mend some bits but it is quite a new area for me. I also want to make more use of free food, so I'll be looking at that as well. I'd love to forage but know practically nothing about it, so YouTube will come in handy in my endeavours, and like most people would love to minimise my cost of gas & electricity!!
2024 is going to be a positive year for me, and it's starting now!!
Buys: All budgeted and paid by cash!
Jan - fridge/freezer
Hoover
Feb - milk frother, curtain pole x2, roller blind - bathroom, toilet seat, bath sink taps, kitchen sink waste unit and an extra double electric socket.
March - raised bed for garden, bathroom cabinet, roller blind - kitchen
April - nothing
May -8 -
@Florafauna how much does it cost to get them serviced? I have a 1974 singer that could probably do with it, but I haven't looked into itMarried 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.
