Hello,
I've just received an email from Louise Bulgin, saying I've won £100 in a crossword puzzle competition from Best Magazine, issue 50 2021. Seems a bit of a lag. I'm wondering if this is a legitimate email or some kind of phishing attempt.

Here's a cut and paste of the first part of the email:

*********************************************************

Dear *****,

I’m delighted to inform you that you have won £100 in our crossword puzzle competition as seen in issue 50, 2021 of best magazine. Congratulations!

Please accept our apologies for the delay in notifying you – we’ve had some problems putting in place a new system for issuing payments – but we hope you are pleased to get the news of your win!

Prizes are claimable through our new Beneficiary Self-Management system with HSBC, a simple process through which you trigger the payment of the prize money into your bank account or PayPal account following the steps set out in this HSBC video.

For security,  this process involves a two-step authentication process as part of which you will receive a password to your mobile phone number.  We do not have your mobile number in our records, therefore kindly ask that you respond to this email with your up-to-date mobile number for this purpose by Monday 11 September 2023. After this, please look out for an email from HSBC for the next steps in claiming your prize money.

*********************************************************

I just wondered if this was usual, as the few times I've one in the past, I just received a cheque.

Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks.
