Aldi's cheese is rubbish!

I'm a regular shopper in Aldi ,I've found that any cheese I buy from there,... isn't much cop! , that's especially including the fancy foreign ones 'gouda' ,'parmesan' ,they all taste to me like they are basic and bland imitation cheeses and have had lots of salt or other ingredients added to accelerate the aging and mimic the flavour of a proper cheese, I don't even find that their cheese is much cheaper than anywhere else quite often , I've compared to places like Asda and found their cheeses like Gouda etc have a lot more of a better flavour

The Lidl version of Parmesan is bland as a bland thing on a bland background.0

I like Aldi's Wensleydale & Cranberries which is over 30% more expensive in Asda
Asda's one also contains "Preservative (Potassium Sorbate), Acidity Regulator (Acetic Acid)"

The added preservative will likely be because of the added fruit. They take wensleydale cheese, mash up up, add the fruit and squish it back together, that process means the natural maturation process is stopped so the cheese won't keep so well.HillStreetBlues said:I like Aldi's Wensleydale & Cranberries which is over 30% more expensive in Asda

Its also possible the additives were added to the dried fruit only before mixed into the cheese.1 -
That should have shown up on the dried cranberries Ingredients, but only shows Sugar, Cranberries, Sunflower Oil with Aldijon81uk said:

The Asda one is best for people who like it to last longer without going mouldy, the Aldi one is best for those who rather have a less additives and more natural taste.

Cheese doesn't last long enough to go mouldy here!
The Aldi wensleydale with apricot is delicious too. 😋2
