Colleages got interviews. My application hasn't had a status change.

My colleagues and I applied for a job at an external organisation. They have got interviews but the status of my application is still "submitted".

Should I get in touch to enquire or accept that they will likely be waiting to see if they can't get anyone suitable in the first round of interviews?

The organisation does have an old colleague of mine working there in a senior role who took a dislike to me. Probably being over the top but I can't help but feel this had some impact.

Do you have reason to believe that your old colleague was involved in the shortlisting? It's more likely that whoever was evaluating your application decided it wasn't what they were looking for. Did you answer all the questions fully, with relevant experience and examples? Your current colleagues may just have done better applications, hence why they were shortlisted and not you.

It's always a bummer though when you don't get an interview. But move on rather than try to analyse it too much!

It may have done and that wouldn't in itself be unlawful. However, even if that is the reason, they are unlikely to tell you that is why your application has not progressed so you will never know.

If there is a "history" here, whoever may be to blame, would you really want to work there?

For whatever reason, the company decided they did not want to progress your application to interview stage. Accept this and move on.

Also, would you really want to be working where there is someone in a senior position who apparently doesn't like you.

If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Clearly your colleagues had something on their applications which better fitted the needs of the recruiting organisation. There's not really any point in getting in touch - after all, you only know this (assuming your colleagues are telling the truth!) because you know other applicants.

Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!
