Can edge homepage be changed to google

When I open microsoft edge how can I get it to open google homepage by default instead of opening egde homepage.

Would you know how to change it because when I set the homepage to google it still opens edge.

1. Open Microsoft Edge, select Settings

2. Select Appearance. (left-hand side)

3. Scroll down the page to      Turn on Show home button.

4. You can either choose New tab page or select Enter URL for a page that you want to use as your home page    Type http://www.google.co.uk/

I tried this but it still opens edge homepage. If I open edge then click on the home button it opens goggle homepage but I don't want to do it that way.

Edge Settings -> Start, home, and new Tabs -> Select the options you want for the home button and when Microsoft Edge starts.

Just download Chrome instead and use that.

This don't work either

Click 3 dots top RH
Choose 'settings'
Go to 'start, home and new tabs'
Look at 'when Microsoft Edge starts'

After updating edge it now works but it opens in internet explorer mode but this site and a few others won't work.
