I have coloured medium brown hair and had some blonde highlights some time ago which I loved. However after a while they went very brassy (as does my hair colour a bit as it fades) so haven’t had them done again. Talking to the hairdresser she said that I needed toner every three or so weeks to keep the colour cool. But it’s £28 plus blow dry on top of that. She couldn’t recommend a product that I could use at home. Can anyone make any suggestions? Am a bit nervous of purple shampoos as don’t want to end up a peculiar shade but maybe there isn’t an equivalent of the toners that hairdressers use? Am 75 but was so pleased with the highlights! Thank you.

A few of my friends, and my husband use the purple Wella shampoo and it’s really good at stopping the brassy colour. Your hair does not turn purple.0
