Archive.org is a wonderous collection of all sorts of media, and amongst them is a large collection of old cokkery books. This link should take you there. There are around 12,000 to go at, many American, but I particularly liked the "Glasgow Cookery Book". This site is free to use, but you may make a donation if you like. The books may be read on line, or downloaded, being well out of copyright.

Apologies if not exactly money saving, but at least you may get some free entertainment.

I use it all the time for specialist books I can’t get hold of without going somewhere like the British Library.  Never thought of it for cookery books!

it really is a terrific resource.

Wow what a fantastic find.  We really do eat so differently compared to a hundred odd years ago

I love old household books.  I can't see a publishing date, just that the library got it in 1969.  Going by the few first pages, where I didn't know what calais sand, laundry blue or whiting were, I imagine it a fair bit older than that  :)

My mum had a copy of the Glasgow Cookery Book  no idea why. It got left at my ex's house when we divorced.
