Firstly I must start by saying I love my job and I love the company I work for.
I was offered a promotion and accepted it in August - one of the benefits I got was a company car in Sept.
I’ve just been told I can’t now have a car until maybe November.

Would it be unreasonable to ask for a compensatory benefit until then? I don’t want to act out with no reason, but I can’t help but feel if this was my salary that hadn’t increased as agreed, I would hesitate to ask.

Have they given you a reason why? It may be due to a car simply not being available via their company plan.
Are you paying in any way for the car? Taxed for the benefit perhaps? This shouldn't happen until you actually have the keys.
Alternatively can they give you a car allowance? That would count as some compensation I would have thought.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I am having a car that someone else has use of currently and they are getting a new car.Their new car is delayed indefinitely (which I understand is quite normal currently) so I cannot have the car that comes with my package.Nothing untoward or spiteful, simply that I just can’t have it yet.Car allowance was something I had thought of asking for!0

Only you know your employer and how they are likely to react to such a request - but if you don't make it, you aren't going to get anything, and are clearly more than a tad miffed. Ask, don't simmer in silence!J1one said:Firstly I must start by saying I love my job and I love the company I work for.

Are you sure its a benefit? I know when a friend got their company car the BIK they had to pay was more than the price of a lease would have cost.J1one said:Firstly I must start by saying I love my job and I love the company I work for.

You could ask but for something in return but its fairly normal for a vehicle to have a lead time and lead times can slip0
