The cause? "temporary" low interest rate which simply encouraged borrowing and price rises. Initially BOE warned it was "temporary" & advised people not to borrow. This advice was ignored when it became clear that "temporary" was forgotten, this created the debt boom. For every boom there is a bust, the longer the boom, the bigger the bust. Our ministers and civil servants all knew this but put off the oncoming 'bust' thereby making it eventually much worse. Those who caused this hope to keep the 'boom' until re-election. Civil servants are fire-proof, Ministers are 'paid' for resigning while every prime minister keeps his Chauffeur-driven car & security. This may be why many PM's are shortlived, all ministers want the free car & perks, it's sod the public, we're all right jack.Who to blame? The PM's & Chancellors who walked in to high-paid reserved 'jobs'. Those who closed our Oil & Gas fields leaving us without fuel. Those who invited the worlds criminals to come & share ..what?"Those who do not learn from history are destined to repeat it". If you went to an English school, what did you learn? sweet F.A.0
