A valuable book collection.

An elderly uncle, who is now on the state pension and who has down the years put together a valuable book collection by a well known author, has been asked if the collection could be put on display to view in a local museum without compromising his weekly pension etc. in any way ?

Do you mean he is being offered money for his collection?

Thanks. No the museum is willing to put the books carefully on display as an attraction and he would be paid per visitor. The question is would this compromise his state pension in any way ?

Something that has crossed my mind is, if it is a valuable collection, does he have insurance that covers it?  It's the kind of thing that can get overlooked.

If it's kept at home, he might want to think about whether or not the museum states that the exhibits are from his collection.  Keeping details of ownership private might be worth thinking about in terms of possible theft, especially since he's elderly.
