'Lost Contact' letter from LexisNexis / Pearson Pension Plan – genuine?

I've just received a letter from a company called LexisNexis Risk Solutions who say they are working in partnership with the trustee of the Pearson Pension Plan and that the Pension Plan has lost contact with me. The letter invites me to complete an online verification form or call them directly, both subject to 'basic identity checks'.

I don't recall having a Pearson Pension Plan although it's possible it may have been set up during a past employment. Before i hand over any personal details to them, does anyone have any experience of these letters or know if they are genuine?

Thanks.

Pension administrators are required to trace people who have failed to notify them of their change of addresses.  it typically happens close to the scheme retirement age.   Although the harder it is to trace someone, the longer it may be.

LexixNexis are a known company that is employed to do this sort of thing.

I had a similar letter from LexisNexis a few years ago regarding a pension from a company who had never been my employer. I did my due diligence & established that LexisNexis do legitimately trace missing pensioners although this in itself didn't prove the letter actually came from them. I ignored the letter then a few months later got another.

I eventually gave LexisNexis a call & they were very helpful. I explained that I had no knowledge of the company pension & that all my pensions & employers were all accounted for. To confirm that I was not the person that they were looking for we went through some personal details. Full name & DOB were the same but then I was offered the first few characters of the National Insurance number but these were completely different to mine e.g. AB 12 34 instead of YZ 98 76. So their search continues...
