It is good that you managed to repair it, I have the same inverter and quite often get the E031 error code but switching it off and then back on seems to clear the problem for a while at least. With what you say, the problem is due to the relay, can I ask what is the relay part number and where did you get it from ... my reasoning here is that for £6.00 it may be worth buying the relay and having it ready to swap in for the faulty relay when the inverter fully stops working.

    Thanks.

It's even listed for the fault because it's so common.

If your inverter is 4 years old or more, and you know how to use a soldering iron, id strongly advise you to resolder each of the 4 relays feet, as its the solder joints drying out that causes the issue.

And tbh it sounds like you already have that problem, so it's only a matter of time before it takes out the relay

Thank you for the link! I will certainly be buying the relays so that if/when the inverter fails I am ready to replace it, although thinking about that, it's probably sensible to replace before it fails. Thanks once again.

Well I have to say im so pleased for YouTube and this forum. as reported I replaced one relay ( all now done ) and got up and running again. with the price of power going crazy its a huge saving but of course only daytime. My question now is.

Its a 10 year old system, panels are linked together , We have addressed the shading with a £500 ( ouch ) spend on a tree surgeon so the trees are now manageable. Can we add a battery system?  Am I right in thinking theres no VAT relief on fitting one now?  and is it worth looking at making each panel act independently. Do we add a couple of more panels to boost the battery ( realise no extra FIT ) . Im hoping for answers here rather than get a salesman visit and end up spending funds quite honestly we dont have.

  • Great you got it fixed.

    You can add batteries.
I am currently trying to add batteries and charger/inveter( Pylon tech Us3000 or 2000 plus lux 3600 acs) and nigh on impossible to buy off the shelf especially the inverter but can back order the former.
If you have FIT  take care as a change can invalidate your contract. Add on batteries is fine provided your FIT certified system is not changed.( but do read other threads as sometimes FIT extension is possible)

You may need Distribution Network Operator (DNO) consent at a few hundred pounds typically , consented or not!

Best of batteries is to time shift generaton to use periods or loading batteries on cheap overnight rates. Not on those tariffs myself but nay need an Electric vehicle to have one....more expert comments wi no doubt clarify.

Batteries have not generally been financially viable - that looks a better proposition as fuel prices rise, but certainly help to be green.
