My mum has asked me to get some trouser for my dad as she is now housebound. She suggested Matalan, but I can't see anything for anyone over the age 40 on their website. She said he has in the past ordered them from 'some catalogue that came with the paper' but doesn't want the hassle of returning them through the post if they don't fit.
He won't pay Marks and Spark's prices.
I've managed to get the size from a pair of trousers in his possession but the brand has long since worn off. I'm suspecting BHS or Woolworths.
Where do I buy sensible, casual, short legged, large waisted trousers suitable for an 84 year old?
Thanks
Edit. I know one answer is that he should bloomin' well go and get his own, but I doubt this is something he has ever done for himself, and it's far less hassle for me to get them than to sort out the potential disaster of him doing it himself.

Maybe somewhere like Farah Farah Classic® Collection | Traditional Trousers | Farah®, Damart, Lands End, Cotton Traders or Chums Older Mens Trousers - Chums
The sort of places that advertise in the back of newspapers and weekend supplements.1 -
M&S do have some pretty cheap trousers online that my father would have worn, proper trousers type thing, with a crease down the front that could cut apples, youjust have to weed them out from the rest.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi2

DH (84) orders from Chums. They have been fast and reliable.
They sell trousers with high, elasticated waist, in several leg lengths. Wash well. They don't last long, at least not in this house, as the material snags easily, when worn for gardening, odd jobs etc, but we keep a strict order of smartness, (1) best wear, (2) fairly decent, and (3) gardening and painting only. Usually cost about £25, sometimes BOGO cheaper.
If you find anything better, please post and let us know! I expect difficulties again finding 'long shorts' in a few months.1 -
cotton traders are good ,wide range of leg lengths ,they are mainly mail order but do have some shops depends where you are3

Any chance a charity shop might have some?? Aim for a nice part of town with a retirement age population. (like Westbourne in Bournemouth)
My FiL was a bit of a fashion diva until the last couple of years when he was happy to wear sweatpants. After he died I took on the task of clearing out his clothing and decided a couple of bins bags would do the trick. NO. 1 whole bag of pale beige trousers. 1 whole bag of plain beige trousers. 1 whole bag of brown, another of grey, another of black. And then I started on the jackets. Suit, casual, formal. And then I started on the coats.....and then there were the jumpers and socks, etc etc etcI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Dunnes . Good quality and not expensive.3

M and S are no more expensive than the others posted on here. They start at £17.50 and £19.50 possibly even cheaper if you can get to store that still has some left in sales.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.2

Another vote for Chums - they have a section called "High Waisted Trousers": https://www.chums.co.uk/menswear/trousers/high-waisted-trousers0
