Her Father slihtly better than her Mother who was awful.Did you order the next one? I think the Father had a bit moe go in him than the mother. He had worked hard to create that wealth but also let it be frittered away mainly by his wife to keep up with those in their circle even when it was obvious the great depression was on it's way and many of their friends were getting out rather than waitingfor inevitablle crash- they had kept enough to do that. The only time I felt a bit sorry for the mother was when they travelled to Liverpool on the underground raliway. Having just given birth to the youngest child without the assistance and after care she had with the other children that was so humilitating.Once the father managed to pull himself together he tried so hard to look clean and respectable hoping to find work although his few clothes were ragged and his shoes falling apart.I suppose nowadays the mother might be said to have post natal or post traumatic stress but all their friends made plans paid what debts they could .some keepig their jobs or having the funds to move on and some respectable clothes. The husband at the start seemed much too lenient when things started to go downhill.I do think he cared and the mother didn't. Her cruelty to Helen never really waned in fact the family seemed to exist only to do what she ordered.pollyx

@pollyanna_26 and @London_1 that sounds like an interesting series. I’ll see if they have it at my local library. Always looking for book recommendations!Every act of kindness, no matter how small, isn’t wasted ❤️

I always think of you Jackie when I cook with the Remoska, which is generally in my other half's motorhome. You first introduced me to this incredibly useful bit of kit many years ago, so I was well-prepared when I spotted one in a BHF shop at £8. OH thought I was mad to spend that much on an unknown (to him) item of kitchen equipment but it came with a good guarantee and just looked as though it needed a bit of TLC. Someone had melted a plastic item on the top of the lid so it looked a bit of a mess.
Five years on and himself has said he would pay full price from Lakeland to buy on for himself and the van. It needs to be the type with the window as he likes to see how things are going as there is only one temperature setting. What a change of opinion! I remember you cooked just about everything in your Remoska, and it's a great option for a single person household, caravan or motorhome. Would be lost without my Remoska! I've got the large indoors and the small in the motorhome. Really useful for saving electric being low wattage.

Update on the Remoska- his sister has been watching prices on the bay and decided they are so high used that she bought him a brand new one on a special deal frm Lakeland! I will now get mine back.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

Indeed I use mine daily and along with my slow cooker and microwave think its the most cost effective way to cook Well done on getting one from a CS I have never ever seen one in there They are a dreadful price now, but pay for themselves over the years. I only use my big oven if I am baking a lot of stuff, but I sue my Remoska every night for cooking my dinner
