It's not that great a deal.  The clubcard points equivalent to a 1% discount, for three months only, in return for paying Tesco in advance for all your shopping.

I have a scheme through my employer allowing me to buy Tesco gift cards at a 3% discount, and the cards can be topped up indefinitely at the same discount.

This is incorrect. The effective cashback is 0% (1% at first 3 months)
Because you get these anyway with your clubcard

I use my Pay+ prepaid card for shopping online as I feel it's safer than using my main bank account details.
