So pleased you've been able to make some of the £ you need - and return some items too. I love 'free' £. I definitely need to list more and return an item too.

    Hi all,

Been another busy day here, I did an hours walk this morning first thing, whilst it was cold and a bit rainy it does get me off to a good start to the day!😊

Returned the cable no problem so had £4 to put towards ds2 gift which I used my voucher to do, picked up birthday cake a few little bits and then went and got my C&C shop.
We we’re having Turkey fajitas tonight but have been invited up to my mums for a beef dinner so I have still poppedd in the slow cooker ready to reheat for tomorrow’s tea😋

I ordered a new watch strap last week for my smart watch but found my old one yesterday so I’ve packed back up to return so should be another £9 back next week at some point.

Going into next week with £26, full cupboards and fridge and ds2 birthday sorted ✔️ I just need to pay for trampolining on Friday but that will come out of OH pay..my Tilly tidy for this week is £2.87 which isn’t a lot but it’s been a scrimping week so a good start, I’ve also had a refund of £17 today from a jumper that was too small.

Hope everyone is enjoying there sundays ❤️

  • Good Afternoon anyone out there  :#

Working in the office today, I have spent £1 today on some cheesy bread rolls for the week to go with my soup but managed to avoid the chocolate traps.  Called on to the shop and managed to get all of my parcels sent, so my 3x vinted are sold and my amaz0n return processed so hopefully will see the money at some point this week.  Overpaid one of the CC by £10.00 today and I am planning on listing some items on marketp1ace this week.  We are heading to my mums for tea, my dad isn't very well so taking up fajita chicken for wraps to save them cooking and OH is on nights.

My first real tests of the clothes spends are hitting me earlier than expected....I have a 2 night trip at the end of the month and another 1night in Feb.....the biggest challenge at the moment will be finding something that fits!!!  This month I am heading down on the afternoon so will be fine for the first evening, 2 days of training however the new owner will be attending so something quite smart and then we will be having a 3 course meal the second night so something smart/casual.  I think the best thing I can do is plan and pack my bag this weekend, then if something needs dry-cleaning I can get it arranged and forget about it before buying anything new!

I have decided my first short term goals for 2022, I am going to approach this every quarter as things creep up so quickly:
    • Sinking Fundss -DS1 Birthday (nearly done  :) Just need to pay for trampolining
    • DS2 Birthday( April)  £200.00 Target.  We usually spend a lot more than this, but he got a very expensive present for Christmas and doesn't really need much, I found a full-size children's pool table online for £25, if I collect this weekend the seller has agreed to £15 so planning this, a new pair of trainers as main presents so should be do-able.
    • Passports - We all need ours renewing so approx. £250/300 and need to get these done by end of March as we have a holiday booked already in May.
    • Christmas - Looked over my statement and other than the cr*p we buy, calling to shop, takeaways etc the main spend on my CC each year is Christmas.  So going to set a £66p/m target for Christmas which we can review throughout the year.
    • Emergency Fund - £500.00
4 More days to get through until OH payday, then the real planning can begin!

I suppose my question is why a kid need £200 spending on them for a birthday? I always budgeted more like £50 for DD / DS for birthday - and £100 for Xmas (but usually went over at Xmas). I did spend up to £50 extra on a meal or party for said child... It's easy to fall into a habit of I have to spend this much - but really these are choices we are making. If it's the right choice for you and it's affordable - go for it - if not - revisit and amend.

Don't get too excited about the wfh tax. It's 20% of £6 a month. 🤣
£6 a week actually. Not a bad little sum when you add it up...  :)
  • I did try the tax refund but got stuck in a loop and it was processing at £0 so going to give them a call at some point and try do it over the phone.

@savingholmes I understand what you are saying and we do need to make an effort to scale back but to be honest for a pair of trainers it’s around £50 for his sizing etc we usually get a few clothes or trainers with his birthday as he is very into clothes and he will need them anyway.  A PlayStation game is circa £50 so I think over the next year or so we will cut back year on year x
