Cabots debt letter recieved

Can someone please advice me.. long story short, I left my marital home few years ago, but ran some debts from studio catalogue about 8-9 years ago, I was in very financial difficulty so could not pay. Now have recieved a letter from them after all this time, I moved about 4 times since then. How did they know where I live now?!.. I did have some debts to Lowell from years ago but since paid them few months ago. Can this debt from cabots show in my credit file after all these years?, even though only Lowell’s showed & i paid them off. I’m trying to sort out my debts but paying around £3000 from about 8 years ago still scares me. Thank you for taking time to read

They'll have traced your new address through the CRAs or other means. It's not important.

If the account defaulted more than 6 years ago, it won't appear on your files. Its not enforceable if not acknowledged in the last 6 years, unless they have a CCJ against you.

Have you asked them to prove liability for the debts ?

That is your next step, send the provit letter to them.

Accounts stay on file for 6 years after default date, then are gone forever.
