Lloyd's SCM and "Charging Order"

Options
Morning good people of MSE.

As the title suggests I have a restriction on my title deeds relating to a CCJ from Lloyds/SCM dated 2012.  I actually had no idea it was there until yesterday when my solicitor (very belatedly) brought it to my attention in the course of selling my house.  I have not made any payments toward this since 2012 and don't even remember ever being asked to and never been chased, hence lack of knowledge about it.

That aside, I am now encountering the usual story with my solicitor  and posted on Charging Order The Myth forum and so I know that this can be dealt with - with the right solicitor!

However my question relates to actually  trying to repay the debt and I wondered if anyone had been successful in making contact with Lloyds/SCM to gain settlement figures and actually have the restriction removed. From what I can gather the two companies (one company 🤔) are no longer associated and the debt is likely to have been sold on long ago; again I have no knowledge of being chased for this.  My feeling is that I could never get this removed by repaying it getting it discharged by the "lender". I saw a similar post where the OP was in this exact situation where a company called Link were chasing him for repayment but as they did not have the benefit of the restriction they would not have been able to release it anyway! The OP never did post an update as to whether they resolved this or not.

Has anyone had any success doing this??

Many thanks

SCM were make-believe solicitors that Lloyds used to use (IIRC Sechiari, Clark and Mitchell). It was really just a letterhead that they used to concentrate people's attention. A lot of companies used to do this. The FCA when they came in, expressed severe disapproval of the process and they all disappeared overnight.

The point I make is that this is likely still with Lloyds and your solicitor should be able to get a balance figure by writing to them.

I see you have had good advice on the other thread

Indeed thank you.  I'm not averse to repaying it, I just want to resolve it in which ever way is quicker.  Given my current solicitors view, that may be by settling it and getting the restriction cancelled; have tried a couple of time and just getting passed around and cut off so far 🙄
