Thanks @savingholmes my fingers are crossed 😊

    1st November 2022 update
I was off work in October taking annual leave and was due to go back when my GP signed me off sick.  I had low haemoglobin levels and was given a blood transfusion.  I asked to be signed back to work but she referred me to an Occupational Therapist so  I'm still off as I wait for the appointment.  Have missed out on a fair bit of overtime which is not good for the coffers.

I found a distance learning access course and made an aplication.  Just waiting on an interview for that, which hopefully will be successful.  The course can be started at any time throughout the year.

We are now down to one full time lodger and one part time lodger.  Work is ongoing in the house but DH is frustrated and seemingly wants to leave.  He still has his house so it's easy enough for him to bale should he so desire.

DH business (No 1) has made the rent this month but his other business had 9k of rates due.  3k went on his credit card which I can clear this month and 6k went on my credit card.  I filled out an application to have a re-evaluation on the rates and if successful, we should get a refund.

    Mortgage outstanding is £166,580.20
    Offset Mortgage account £10,513.80
    Emergency Fund £609.12

The offset account now has enough in it that it equates to 12 months of mortgage payments.  I'm trying to build the EF up to £1000.00.  The credit card debt can stay as it is for the time being as I don't know how long the rates evaluation will take.  I've also claimed exemption for CT on DH's house but have not heard anything back yet.  I've got a form to fill out to apply to our local council for an interest free loan to be used for work carried out on our property.  Will get that filled out and submitted today.  We need to move over to renewables and have already had a meeting with a company about how to progress and what our requirements are.

My energy company e-mailed to say they were increasing my direct debit to £967.00 per month based on a usage of 31000kwh annually.  I wrote back to say that I was not in agreement as our usage has never gone over 20000kwh annually.  They have set the direct debit at £427 per month (it was £467 per month) so I am happy at that outcome.

Aim is to get the offset mortgage account up to £24,527.08 and that will be equivalent to a year's worth of expenses.

  • Thanks @savingholmes and @powerspowers for dropping in.  I missed two weeks, all in all, of chemo due to low platelets.  I have now had three lots of chemo and it has been fine.  If I could get rid of my cough and catch my breath, and of course if my platelets returned to normal, then I would return to work, if I was allowed.  My platelets are still rubbish but I get my treatment anyway, along with platelet transfusions and blood transfusions.  I am praying to get back to work at the end of January, which would be a miracle, but who knows.  MMx

Scores on the doors for Feb 23 are

    Mortgage outstanding - £148,926.22
    Offset Mortgage account - £1,729.80
    Emergency Fund - £1,120.00

Next pay day (March) will be down to 50%.  Chemo due to be finished by mid April.  Currently have a chest infection but still managed to get my chemo last Wednesday.  Hopefully it will have cleared enough to get next week's as well.  Platelets and HB sitting at 25 and 83 respectively.  Declined transfusions as I can still make it up a flight of stairs.  Cannot walk far but I'm feeling better every week after the chemo.

Currently working on a voluntary basis for DH but the shifts are long at between 10 and 12 hours.  My feet are feeling it most but more staff have started so I've been able to reduce my days right down to two per week.  Also doing the rostering, banking and admin required but all of that has kicked out my own plans.  Had I not volunteered, the business would have closed down so I felt it was the right thing to do at the time.  DH has practically moved in over there so we see little of each other unless it is chemo day when he drives me to the hospital.

The house has taken a back seat but I can live with that.  No other news to report.
