All this security is all very well but it has rendered my wife's card, an additional one on my account, unusable. Having spent nearly 2 hours over the last 2 days trying to speak to anyone with sense we still can't use the card for online transactions.
All the details on the account, wife's name, card number and mobile number are all correct.
I have downloaded the Barclaycard App but the "chat" facility that they recommend using 24 hours a day doesn't exist on the App. My wife has also downloaded the App to her phone but when trying to link to her card he says that only the main accountholder can set it up yet there is no way for me to do that.
It is obvious to me that the Barclaycard systems can't cope with additional cards and the App just isn't fit for purpose.0 -
I had to update my details with HSBC and found them very quick to pick up and make the change. Ironically they didn't do much by the way of security checking.....
I was finding the card was sometimes accepted (e.g. gov.uk road tax) and sometimes declined (beer purchase from a local brewery).
Co-op changed my details too but gave me an email option.0 -

not sure why your wife can’t use her card online though, I am using mine fine online and it’s only a week old.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Just had this issue with my HSBC Credit card for a trip to france tomorrow. The hotel has tried to do the preauthorisation, and its been blocked. Spoken to HSBC, there is no solution, apparently the problem is with the retailer and I can't whitelist them or anything else like that (eg. allow a 15 minute window).
The hotel has no way to send me another way of paying, they're trying to enter my details into the card reader apparently. So I might be sleeping rough in Paris tomorrow nightPeter

I had a similar problem in 2020! Having visited my now ex girlfriend in France, and then Belgium, both places I tried to book aReturn ferry from, and my card was declined twice, as they were sending my authorisation code to my home phone! In England! Fortunately, we then went to see her son in Alkmaar (Holland), and I was able to use one of my cards to book a return, which was great, as otherwise by now I would have had to learn Dutch, and become a naturalised citizen! This would have advantages but most of their beer is crap, and their cheese is limited to say the least! They claim to have some of the best cheese, but this is either Gouda or Edam. It is available in 97 different ages, varieties etc, but it is all very, very bland! They have nothing like a mature Cheddar, or any blue cheese at all!0
