Hey Dolly, it's been about 6 weeks since I last checked in and just wondered if you're doing OK?

Jeez it has been so long since I've posted - sorry about that!
Will get a proper update tomorrow and will try to figure out how to upload some pics cos we got a little puppy called Bailey last week and he is gorgeous.1 -
So I will openly admit that I have gone a bit spend crazy these last few months.
Paid for decorating, bought furniture, bedding, curtains, candles all the usual stuff you need when you move but we also just bought a puppy which financially isn't really a necessity but my god he is just the cutest little thing ever.
He's dug up all the plants, pees and poos constantly, nips at us (normal puppy nipping) and he has defo found his bark but wouldn't be without him tbh.
I'm obsessed now with watching puppy training videos and he already sits on command. He is getting there with his recall but I know that is going to take a long time for him to get it right but little steps daily and we will get there.
Will tally up the debt total tomorrow but I currently have my mortgage which I won't count, 2 credit cards and a rather large IOU for my mum.
I'm looking forward to getting my finances back under control.

Thanks LMD.
Glad to be back.
Just sitting going through the finances now.
It's not looking good and I'm very annoyed with myself.
Time to get back to DFW basics I think.0 -
Remember to be kind to yourself, it's expensive moving house and I sympathise with you as we have had some big purchases ourselves since moving. You're doing the right thing though by getting back into DFW ways and bringing things back in check.
Maybe look at joining the payment a day challenge, to either pay what you owe or top up your pots, it doesn't have to be a lot, I either make my standard payments or I do a bank round down and skim it that way. it all adds up over the month.
However you decide to approach it, lots of luck

Okay so here is the damage;
* £3,000 - CC Debt
* £3,000 - IOU Mum
£6,000 - Total Debt
I have until 31st March 2026 until my 5 year fixed rate mortgage runs out so my new 56 month plan is as follows;
* £287.00 per month - Will allocate this to CC, IOU then savings
If I stick to this plan by the 1st March 2026 I will have paid off all CC debt, repaid the IOU to Mum and saved around £10,000. At this point I am going to make a decision to either overpay the mortgage or use it to improve the flat.
I'll probably need a new boiler by then, I want a new bathroom for sure and I might get a new kitchen eventually.
I'm looking forward to having the money in the bank so that I can then make that decision and know that it's not gonna just get whacked on a CC.1 -
Sounds like you have a good plan in place Dolly, does the allocated budget allow you to still have extra in case things round the home need sorting? Also, is your credit card on an interest free rate or will you accrue interest on it before it's cleared?
How are things going with your new fur-baby?

It does leave me some wiggle room if I need it which I hope I don't but you just never know with these things.
CC is on a 0% so that is all good.
Oh he's great. Just trying to train him now he's a bit of a baby shark - sure they all are at that age though.
He got his vaccination last week so we can finally take him out for his first walk on Friday. I am beyond excited!0
