Employer problems

Hello All,

I seem to have  upset my employer by saying that the Business would not be as good as it is without the best workers in the work place, wasn’t taken lightly by the director.

It’s only a small family company 9 people including myself, since I said the comment they have sent me offensive videos in messages and also sarcastic comments in the workplace, making my mental health bad, so I’ve had to be signed off work for 6 weeks with anxiety and depression from the doctor.

I tried to go back into work and do my job the best I could like I’ve always done , they have now set me up to do work that a customer hasn’t asked for and I think they will try and sue me for damages, as they have been making homeless comments to me.

I have handed my notice in at work but I feel they they will ignore my notice and just throw it in the bin.
I’ve had an interview for another company and I’ve been offered the job.

Surely I can just leave now as I’ve handed in my notice? They surely can’t ignore my notice?. (I’ve also emailed them my notice)

Could they actually sue me for damages?.

I think I’ve been treated very unfairly as I’ve only had 2 sick days off in 10yrs

They don't need to acknowledge your notice as long as you have made sure you give at least as much as your contract dictates then once you have served that your employment ends

but it would be best if the OP is able to prove they gave the notice if it is denied by the employer.  A confirmatory email from the OP to the employer could be useful.

I have also sent the notice via email but the employer didn’t reply, but I do have proof I’ve sent it, in my sent emails.
  • I think they will try and make it hard for me to leave but what’s the point in doing that if I don’t want to be there anyway!.
  • Did the new organisation contact your present employer for a reference?

They haven’t done so far but I feel they will and I’m hoping they don’t give me a bad reference but I feel they will!.

So, as the job offer is likely to be conditional on their receipt of references which are satisfactory to them, be prepared to explain the situation to the potential employer in a straightforward unemotional way.  However your current employer may either decline to give a reference at all or will be sensible and simply state the date you began your employment and perhaps your job title.
  • Well I was offered the job but then 3 days later. I was told the position was given to someone else due to having more skills. I don’t know if they called my employer for a reference but they didn’t ask for my permission or said they did contact my employer.

I have seen my employer while off sick and I think they are still going to sue me for damages to the business which I have been setup by them because I said something against the business, what is the maximum fine I could be fined?.

I have evidence they have been discriminating my sexuality and making homeless comments to me.

    Sue you for what, exactly?

As for 'evidence they have been discriminating your sexuality', exactly what proof do you have? And what on earth are 'homeless' comments?

I think you may be worrying a lot about things which simply aren't going to happen.

They got me to do work for a customer that the customer hasn’t asked for and are going to blame me for the work I have done.!

I have videos that was sent from an employee, hmm that’s harder to explain but comments about not having a home  or having somewhere to s**t!.
