Nice category D mention for over 80s of any gender.
Regardless of which body parts you were born or ended up with, if you were legally recognised as a woman during any of the relevant times or now and your other circumstances fit, it's probably worth checking.0 -
I think my mum, now 88 & widowed, may have been underpaid but she did receive pension credit when my dad went into a nursing home. Would this rule out any backdated payment?0

I have tried the phone number 0800 731 0469 several time sbut a recorded message says it is closed and the line then cuts out. I have tried hanging on - nothing, I have tried pressing the option numbers even though none are given - nothing.
Does anyone have a number that works please?
Will try an email but not holding my breath.

A question - last year we learned from MSE (thank you!) that my wife was entitled to 60% of my retirement pension. I reached pension age in November 2007. We put in a claim, and were told that indeed she should be getting 60% (about twice what she was being paid at the time) but that any refund for past shortfall would be limited to 12 months from the date of the claim. The basis for this restriction was that apparently we had been sent a letter in 2008 asking us to claim, and we hadn't responded. We can't prove that either way at this distance, but neither of us is in the habit of ignoring letters from HMRC. We've received the 12 month refund (thank you again MSE!) but Question:- does the latest news in the budget remove the 12 month restriction? does anyone know? Thanks for any information... Henry0

I don't know about the 12 month restriction but not sure that keeping on top of letters from HMRC is a good defence in relation to letters she would have apparently get from DWP0

Does anyone have any information about how underpaid pension would be paid to the heirs of deceased people? I think my mum may have been underpaid and her estate has been settled already. Would the money go to the executor of the will or would she (in my case my sister) no longer have the responsibility of dealing with this as the estate has already been divided?

My mother in law has just received her settlement of arrears, my concern is that this may well affect her savings value and push her above the 23k limit and thus result in a change in elibility to free care costs. Surely this lump sum payment cannot be used in the calculations as it is a build up of a miscalculations going back many years. Help !0
