Great idea, however this should be made accessable to people who don't have internet connection through phone or computer. For people who are in genuine hardship and need free food should be thought about here.

I installed the app last week and set food notifications to a 16 mile radius. To date there has been none at all.

Maybe only selected Tesco stores are participating or the scheme hasn't started yet.

How do I get the app if I don't have a smartphone?

The collection relies on 2 things, that a charity hasn't already been assigned the food collection and that a local food hero (olio volunteer) collects the food available and lists it for collection. It will also depend on the availability of food on a particular day, the food hero is notified if there is anything to collect. Collection is usually 8.30/9pm so you would need to keep an eye on the app at that time to see if anyone is local and collecting.

I think not all Tesco stores are participating and maybe their staff are clearing it all (one of the perks of working for Tesco is I think that staff are allowed to take time expiring goods for free).
