PROVIDENT VANQUIS LOWELLS

I stupidly took out 3 loans with provident for about £1600 each in 2012. Because my wife left me and took everything I stopped paying in August 2014. Apparently the debt was sold to Vanquis and now Lowells. Lowells have now sent me a court claim letter and I sent them a letter suggesting that the debt was statute barred but they say its not. What can I do now ? I have nothing left cos my wife took everything although I have picked myself up and am now working. Can I do anything??

Hi,I have moved your post to a more appropirate board. It wasn`t sold to vanquis, they are a part of the provident group, Lowells however are a rather litigious debt purchasing company who now want their ounce of flesh it seems. What exactly have Lowell sent you, is it a Letter before action, typically a questionaire type document giving you 30 days to respond ?or have they progressed to a claim pack already ?You say you told Lowell the debt was SB, what exactly was there response to that, and what reasons did they give why it wasn`t ?Why do you think its statute barred, what is the default date on your credit file ?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
