Unfair Fraud markers placed

Hello everyone,
so around a year ago, I was considering purchasing a property as a first time buyer. There were 3 properties that caught my interest at the time. I changed my mind on the property I wanted and the deals that were available, 3 times & applied to 3 different lenders for 3 different properties within a month, before backing out of all of them (I now know that this wasn’t a smart move).
In middle of all of this a family member of mine passed away and I was needed to travel overseas quite urgently to handle affairs. This caused me to abandon everything in my life, mortgage application and job etc, whilst I handled affairs.
Once I got myself sorted again back in the uk, I attempted to apply for another mortgage, all was going fine, I received an agreement in principle and then a few days later they rejected my application without much explanation.
I decided to order my CIFAS, SARS and National Hunters reports, and my CIFAS came back clean, but my SARS and National Hunters both had markers placed upon them by 2 of the lenders I had applied to and the most recent lender I just applied to has also placed a marker on me.
can anyone give me any explanation as to why you think this could have happened? And what the chances are of me being able to get them removed?
I am not a fraudster and feel really mistreated. I admit that it may not have been the smartest thing to do, making multiple applications in a short space of time. But for all of these lenders to be placing multiple fraud markers upon my name just feels unfair and wrong!
why has this happened and what can I do to get them removed?
also as my CIFAS came back clear would anyone know of a lender who would only use CIFAS and not SARS and Hunter to carry out checks when applying for a mortgage?
thank you for your replies in advance.

Forgive me but, a SARS report? Never heard of that?
National Hunter hold application data. Did you use all the same information on each application or was it different? I think if you've been using somewhat different information (such as salary information) on three applications made within a month that is certainly suspicious. I don't fancy your chances challenging that.0 -
Changing your mind on properties wouldn't lead to a national hunter. Putting different incomes would. Was your personal information the same for each application?0
-
Nope, all information was the same, it’s possible that minor a mistake in information could have been down, but nothing that I consciously would remember. Main information like salary would have definitely had been consistent. If it is down to a small detail in information, surely this can be cleared up as everyone makes a small mistake here and there in life?0

They have a legal obligation to report it if they suspect fraud is taking place. They cant not report it because someone else did.
I think with these markers showing you are going to struggle to get a Mortgage. You need to speak to the lenders and talk it through with them.
There could be any number of reasons, it looks dodgy to begin with so that in itself is enough of a reason, but there could be differences between the applications (beyond the address/purchase price) so that could be a reason etc.

what do you think my chances are of getting these markers removed?
I can back up and prove any information with the truth, but are they likely to hold a potential small error in information against me if that is what it is? Or would they be likely to allow me to clear up any misinformation?0 -
Why would you apply for 3 different mortgages on 3 different properties within 4 weeks? That in itself is dodgy. Not stupid or young and naive that is just dodgy. It makes no sense why you would go between 3 lenders anyway! Change properties yes I get that but not 3 different lenders on top of different properties
I don’t think the markers are unfair0 -

If I was in an office and could see someone had made multiple applications on multiple properties in a short space of time, I would be thinking dodgy all day long. They are not allowed to call you to discuss it as that could be classed as "tipping off" which in itself can bring a jail term and/or large fine.
All you can do is get in touch with the lenders in question and see what they say. If you are not happy with the end result you could go to the financial ombudsman. I do not know where you stand, I would imagine with an explanation and some evidence you can probably get them removed but you will have to keep us updated so we know for in the future.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I don’t think the markers are unfairSo you are honestly saying that I should have a fraud marker on my name because, I made a few mortgage applications within a short time and changed my mind? The fact is that I was not attempting to commit fraud and do not even comprehend how I could have even been committing fraud in the first place? Can you please enlighten me as I feel slightly naive here? Why in your opinion do I deserve to have fraud markers on my name for making multiple applications and being indecisive? It would be different if a real fraudster got hold of someone else’s details and took out loads of things under their name. But I am me and made a few applications under my name, how is that committing an offence that I should be punished for?0 -
