Hi lovely, wise people in my phone!
I have a dream...
A Plan....
A wish!
Even in these uncertain times.
I am going to be contractually mortgage free in 2026 but I would like pay it off earlier so as to get myself into another 20 year mortgage before I hit 45.

Currently I'm not working.... not even earning a penny and I won't be until September when maybe I can open my business again.
I am lucky in a sense that my soh is working and is able to help.

Maybe a little bit about me.
Self employed, 42.
5 wonderful children, all over the age of 18 except my surprise who is 10!
1 supportive other half
2 grandchildren.

Currently at home are 3 children!
With all 3 being in full time education. 1 who works his socks off (has done since he was 14 when he lied to get a job) and happily contributes to the house.

These are "strange" times, but as my thread title says..... What's Normal Anyway?
We are heading into a very big recession and the majority of 're country will be looking to tighten their belts whereas I'm looking to expand mine.
Scared.... YES but hey it's always good to be a little scared, it usually means that your about to do something very brave.

    Morning.
Today I have made plans to put some things on eBay once housework and DS's schooling are done.
I also plan to repot some plants (when bought I put 5 plant plugs into large pots and now they have outgrown them!)
I have also seen some snake target printouts (to colour in) to help with a visual savings thingymabob, o have a notion what they are called but I will find it and print it out 😂🙈
I have £600 in change which I won't bank until things are absolutely dire an emergencys emergency fund if you like.

So I listed a childs table and chair on f/b marketplace for £20 within minutes it was sold, even had a neighbour with the cash calling up to the door for it about 5 minutes after I sold it. Money has been sent to my PayPal and it will be collected this evening.

Had a nosey at what was in the Garage and I can see another £50 looking at me in the form of a large piece of wooden furniture and a corner shelf unit and a sink pedestal.

Have also sold £12 worth of craft bits and pieces. Just have to wait on money coming through for them.

    It's been a good morning.

A very unexpected £40 in cash has just been given to me. Money owed from last summer!!
I had forgotten about it but I'm actually very grateful for it.
£72 since 9am this morning all for the sake of a few photographs!

A few more photographs to go up this morning!
And I'm going to pay £62.27 off my mortgage.
Which will bring it down to 8600.00
    Nice even rounded off number.

Hi thumpthump and welcome 🙂 I just wanted to wish you all the best with the new diary and overpayments, not easy when you have no income for the moment I am sure! I have to ask if you don’t  mind, what’s the new 20 year mortgage you are planning to get for, I’m guessing your dream home?

    It is indeed.
The dream is to have a small holding, approx 4 acres. That we can live out the rest of our days in!
Currently living in a small village but I want to go more rural!
We have seen a plot on the edge of our village with outline PP, but it was granted almost 5 years ago and the owner has used his 2 year extension so we are going to give that a miss ☹

    Friday evening.....
Today I made £30 selling craft bits on f/b.
Had a wee heart to heart with my otherhalf regarding the local plot and he just expressed that he thought it was too close to the village and he would prefer to go more rural I knew this in the depths of my heart but thought I would be able to cajool him into my way of thinking.... it didn't work.
So he said we can wait until next year when mortgage is paid off (and all silly things have fallen of my creditfile) and we can save a little more.

Feeling a little disheartened. But hey ho.

Sorry to hear the conversation didn't go the way you want but you will be in a much better position then by the sounds of it and hopefully the world will be a much better place. Good things come to those that wait they say. We'll done on the sales.
