Probably one of the longest lurkers on this board, just checked and the only post I ever did was back in 2009! Feel like I know some posters personally - sounds dreadfully stalkerish but it's true after reading their diaries for many years. So many things I've read though have got me through some very tough times and to the 'not too awful' position I'm in now.
After 7 weeks WFH I'm taking a bit of time off this week and will pluck up the courage to start posting as I HAVE TO clear my credit card somehow before I remortgage early next year. Payday today and I've moved everything around needed, I normally have very little money left each month but found myself with around £150 left in my accounts last night so have paid that straight off and also added the money that I would normally pay into the 'kids account' straight to the card as well so have made an overpayment of £550. Balance now stands at £7427 but the regular standing order of £250 will go out next week bringing the balance down to £7177. My challenge for this month is to get this down to £7000 before I next get paid on 28th May. I have £358 left in the current account after paying everything this month and leaving £177 to one side. Sounds easy living off this in lockdown as we should just need food but let's see! I have tried to do an SOA this morning but it doesn't make much sense right now as I have no work travel, no kids activities/childcare, practically no petrol and nothing is normal. Need to think about how to do this - maybe one that works now and one that fits when life returns, will try and post this later on. Stupidly happy with myself for typing this and about to press post - I'll take a small win for now!!!

Well done for starting. If you post an SOA of what your normal costs would be we might be able to make other suggestions.

  • Well done for posting! Lockdown can certainly be an opportunity to pay down debt for those of us who are lucky that our financial situation hasn't changed!
