Who to believe - L&C or Woolwich?

L&C broker is telling me that if I don't apply for the discount tracker (-0.06% BoE for 2 yrs) Woolwich product before 2pm today, Woolwich are withdrawing the product.

However, on calling Woolwich directly, they know nothing about the product being discontinued and say that they usually get a few days notice at least.

Who do I believe? L&C broker (trying to meet end of month targets?) or Woolwich call centre person?

  • The Woolwich usually give a minimum of 24-48 hours notice when products are being withdrawn. At the moment we haven't received anything from them to say they are changing their products.

Maybe they will announce something today???

If you have to make up your mind by 2pm and haven't done so yet, then fate would say this is not the mortgage deal for you.

There's many brokers out there, many other deals, and I'm sure you'll find something the same or better!

I always find brokers to be pushy, sometimes worse than estate agents!

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • i can guarentee you that the woolwich product is not coming off today. Change broker if i were you.

  • L&C are being brought up a lot on this forum, mostly negative but some positive. I would confront him!

Perhaps L & C have decided enough is enough and they wont process anymore applications for Woolwich ? I couldn't say that I would blame them if that were the case, as the service (what there is of it from Woolwich), is terrible.

I've done a few with Woolwich this year but after recent experiences I would rather lose the business to another broker. I wouldn't recommend the Woolwich to my worst enemy at the moment !
  • Agreed Leon, so true!

I'll 3rd that. Wouldn't touch the Woolwich with a 20 foot barge pole.

Their systems are garbage, their service is garbage, generally a very poor experience all round.

If it was me - I'll phone them (broker) up today, and ask if its still avialable - when they say yes ... say thanks but no thanks as you don't like being told porkies / pressure tactics to sign up

if really want the deal (.. especially after reading comments on lender's service - ) then advise them that you will be going eslewhere .

We are not all like that. I dont have targets to work to plus have alternative income from my property portfolio which despite the knockers of B2L is doing quite nicely, so with some of us at least you get what you want if you want it and if you dont want it you dont get pushed.
As for saying worse than an Estate Agent:mad:
I like to give people as many choices as possible to do what I want them to. (Milton H Erickson I think)
