Finally, i've done it!!

Options
Firstly, hello to everyone. I guess we're all here for similar reasons. This site is a brilliant idea, and gives people who've kept their poor finances private the chance to discuss the cause and solution without shame and the fear of judgement.

So, my story and the subject heading. I've grabbed a firm grip on my current debt situation, by the danglies. Spent the best part of 6hrs today either on the phone, calculator or sifting through a stack of paperwork. My debt was caused by me being an idiot with my cash, preferring to buy lifestyle items rather than pay bills. Spending money i didn't have, getting charged for being overdrawn, returned direct debits, late payments and over limit fees on credit cards. Then taking loans out to cover repayments, then topping those loans up and so on and so forth.

The outcome is that i'm sat here now with a financial deficit of a little under £13,000. Not much to some people who've had homes reposessed, but still, it's a lot of money and everyone wants paying now.

So i contacted CCCS after seeing them recommended in the debt help article. I'd also waded through my last Experian Credit Report from september and one by one contacted each creditor and tried to come up with a solution.
Some did and some didnt. But i've got this information pack from CCCS via email and an advisor is going to contact me to discuss my options to resolve the situation.

Overall i'm really positive about it and although i'm gonna have to put in some extra overtime it's been worth it.

Why don't you post an SOA (statement of affairs) - I believe CCCS will want it anyway.

Then we can take a look & help you trim the outgoings a little?

BTW, well done & welcome :hello:

  • Hi DS
well done on taking the first step, some people would say that this is the hardest step to take as this is when all those figures come to life and you realise just how real the debt is.

  • Hi Debt Slayer, I'm new to posting but not the board too. Its a great relief to get that "I'm in debt" speech of your chest so to speak isn't it?

Post your SOA, the good folk on here will help you save money, they did for me, and they're great too.

Welcome to the forum. There used to be a sticky on how to post your SOA at the top of the board which should help you. Be honest with everything you spend and you'll get loads of top advice from all the folks on here.

    Cheers!
