Hi all,
I want to make some sweet mince pies for a relative. They have just been diagnosed with wheat intolerance. Does anybody have a good pastry recipe I could use ?
Thanks

Heres one I useWhen you are making mince pies do remember to check the mincemeat ingredients too as some do contain wheatflour in the suet
Quick check through the ingredients list should sort this out (otherwise I ring the maufacturer)

Thanks for that. I better check the suet I used as I made the mince meat a few months back.
EDIT: Looks like I will have to buy some ready made mince meat as I used vegetarian Atora which lists wheat flour.0 -
Bongedone if you can't find readymade gf mincemeat (it can be really pricey) you can make your own GF suet by mixing 1 part Trex to 2 parts GF flour mix..;) Make up your usual mincemeat recipe and just add this suet instead.
Just rub it in and knead together (if you want it like shredded suet chill well then grate it)0 -
thanks for that D&DD.. I was going to ask you about Trex.. just done a supermarket shop for gluten free flour and DF marg so I can make xmas goodies for DM and noticed that the Trex was DF but wasn't a 100% sure about the gluten...
was shocked at the prices of gluten-free flour though£1.42 for plain and £1.79 for bread.. and only small bags!
