The rent is a huge killer to be honest! Our house is a tiny two bed terrace but it is in a really nice sought after area and I feel comfortable and happy living there so I really don't want to move if I can help it.
We will be selling the second car ASAP, plus we are not using it at the moment as I am too scared it will break again and cost me another small fortune - Already spent around 2k on fixing it.
He has applied for loads of full time jobs so hopefully he will get something soon...
These are all my debts... He has a few little debts but I don't think he is paying any of them off at the moment, once he gets a full time job it will be easier and he will start paying them back.
I will speak to him later to see if we can complete an SOA together. I always help him out and he always helps me out so we do work as a team but our money is just all over the place at the minute, we are not controlling it properly at all
Ok try to get as much for the car as you can, i assume it is clear of any finance etc... because people can be put off with a car that is not hpi clear from a private person,
take the car for a mini valet and take some nice pictures (dont take pictures when the car is dirty this will put people off as it looks like you have not taken care of the car) dont take the pictures in the direct sunlight as it make things look worse best time is about 7.30 pm when the sun is on the way down and there is some cloud makes the paint shine better (i restore and sell cars as a hobby)
Yep hopefully he gets a job soon, in regards to his debts you need to find out if he is still paying them or if he is not then are any of them defaulted etc... the reason for this is that in the future you will want to get a morgage to buy your own place and in order for that to happen the credit history has to be somewhat clean for them to lend you any money in other words you have to show that you can pay back on time every time etc....
Dont beat your self uptoo much you have not killed anyone, not sold dodgy stuff to people for money etc.... yes you have got in to debt due to silly mistakes and yes some could have been avoided but you are taking action now to stop the bleeding and dressing the wound and on the way to recovery
if it helps try to set up some visual aids ie on a calender or a note book make £500 squares and everytime you pay off that much cross it out and see how much progress you have made over time“People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society. We want the biggest house, fanciest car, and we don't mind paying the sky high mortgage to put up that show. We sacrifice our biggest assets our health and time, We feel happy when we see people look up to us and see how successful we are”

Yes it is clear of finance. The Lloyds loan was to pay off a previous car I had, I then sold it and bought this car... I thought I was getting a really good deal but turns out some things are too good to be true! :rotfl: We have photos of the car and it's in immaculate condition so fingers crossed it sells, and hopefully for more than 6k!
I will check with my partner later to find out what his exact debts are. I think it amounts to 3 or 4k? But not entirely sure.
Thank you! I have had my LBM now. I think if I weren't pregnant I would of just carried on going but knowing I will be bringing a human into the world in a few months has put an entirely different spin on things. I don't want my debt to effect her quality of life.
The visual aids sounds like a really good idea. I need to set myself some targets so I don't feel so overwhelmed by it all.0 -

Yes this is definitely something I am going to look into doing, £50 a month on sky is ridiculous and to be honest we use my brother's Netflix account more than we use sky...
That's a great idea, we will do it through compare the market, I will take a look in a bit.
I have quite a good range of maternity clothes now, I'm pretty much kitted out until she is born. I will probably just need to get myself some maternity pj's but I will look on eBay first. I have bought a few bits off eBay for the baby already so I have no issue with second hand itemsthere tends to be cashback deals on nowtv if you still want to watch some of the things on sky.

Great to hear that, lets at least get 6k for the car that will reduce the debt down to around 15k
Next move is to make a list and find out when all the 0% deals are ending as once they end the monthly payments are going to go up but because 6k of debt has gone hopefully the payments wont be to high but you still need find out and prepare for them
cut back on any extras such as sky tv licenceetc... that you dont use and see if you are on the best deals for the bills
you also need to know once the little one is here are you going to be getting full pay while on maternity, if not then that shortfall needs come from some where ie extra job on the weekend while hubby is home to take over etc.... or even an side hussle etc...
also if you have friends or family that can helpout with clothing and things for the baby that would be a great help (my sister had a baby in jan and we all just bought things she will such as car seat, pushchairs bottles toys a few pass me down clothes etc...) it really helps
keep fighting, dont stress too much its not good for you or the little one“People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society. Car will be going live this evening, it is on a 5 day auction, really hope it sells!
Thanks for the advise, I have checked the 0% cards etc that I have:
Very - 0% ends next month  So I desperately need to pay this off, the APR is crazy!!
Ikano - 0% until the end... Ends in May 2020
Barclaycard - 0% until Feb 2021
Lloyds CC - 0% until March 2020
I get statutory mat leaveit is 90% of my wage for 6 weeks and then drops down to £148.68 per week for the next 33 weeks. I am planning on taking 9 months so partner really needs to get a job that will cover all of our essential bills
We have been quite lucky with regards to baby items. My dad has bought the pram/travel set and bedside crib. We are getting a cot from one of my partners friends free of charge which is really lovely of him and we have already had tons of baby clothes bought for her and shes still 20 weeks off!! :rotfl: I have also been looking on eBay for other items that she will need. I feel very confident that we will have everything in the next couple of weeks thanks for family and friends.0 -
Day 2 ...
Car has finally been listed, it will go live this evening! I figure it is best for it to end in the evening as most people are at work during the day. It is on a 5 day auction so fingers crossed for next Monday!
I have been through all the 0% deals that I have and turns out I NEED to pay Very by next month as otherwise the interest rates go through the roof!! This needs to go. Once the car has sold and been paid for this will be the first to go. (£580.00)
OH and great news my partner has an interview on the 30th September for a sales role!!!
I feel so much better already haha. Just need to get these finances under control....0 -

Hey,
Just caught up on your diary. You are doing really well so far and although there is some moments of panic once you get to grips with things it will hopefully get easier, early stages of ' OMG if only' tends to be how the 1st few days go! haha.
Whilst its good to maybe recognise that errors were made to get you where you are, that you can only impact what is happening now and in the future. I also had my LBM when my daughter arrived somehow it made my whole approach to things change and i wanted to ensure that i taught her value of money and provide a platform for her future...i realised i could only do this by learning to budget and tackling things head on myself.
Good luck with selling the car this should hoepfully clear some of the debt. Also hope the interview goes well for your partner
Keep going0 -

Hey, thank you for commenting!
It's good to hear that other people have been in a similar situation but managed to turn things around, it gives me hope for the futurewell done to you!!
Yes I can't wait for the car to go now and sort some debts out with the £££'s !! I did try to sell it a few weeks back on eBay but the person who won the bid didn't pay or get it contact with me so I ended up losing moneyI don't understand why people do this on eBay?!? It's so frustrating!

Day 3...
I have been really busy at work today so only just managed to pop on.
This weekend I have tasked myself to declutter the house and find some items that I could potentially sell on eBay. I'm guilty of owning clothes that I have only worn once... or even worse still have the tags on!! Hopefully that will bring in some more £££..
Also I really need to call the water company to set up a DD. We haven't paid a years worth of water so I really need to get this sorted and arrange a payment plan with them.
I have my 20 week scan tomorrow so looking forward to that, although slightly nervous/worried but I'm sure all will be ok0
