Hi all,
My ex-hubby has just been in contact with me as we are still good friends.
He had a £1200 argos card bill that whilst going through dificulties a few months ago got into arrears with.
To cut a long story short Argos passed this debt onto a debt collecting firm called Fenton Cooper, who sent loads of letters, all which ex-hubby ignored demanding full payment.
He has been round tonight and i made him face up to things and sort this out.
On his first phone call he has arranged to pay £50 a month which is way under what he can afford to pay due to a recent huge wage increase and they have accepted plus frozen the interest on the account.
This seems too good to be true to me!
He is now paying less to them than he was to argos in the first place plus there is no interest to be added.
Can this company change their minds down the line or should exhb think himself lucky and thats the end of it?
xx

He's lucky but it may well be that they try to up the payment over time.
Make sure they do not have your phone number, as it is you they will ring if they doIf you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
That's what i thought.
he did give them his number (rang from mine) but refused to give them his mobile.
i just dont understand how it is now cheaper for him to pay this company back than it was to pay the original debt back to argos!I will save my tesco £1 savings stamps this year! .......so far = £50 (full card#1)

heavenleigh,
They should write to your ex OH to confirm the arrangement.
Either way the best thing to do is have him write to them and request that all future communications are in writing. If they do keep phoning you or him after that then you will find some great letters that RAS has posted on other threads to both stop them and issue complaints.0
