From what you say just explain it in a similar way to how you've explained it to me mate.
Re rent - that makes sense now mate, sounds like you're in a great position to move forward.
Also makes sense re car, sounds like it's been very well looked after by the previous owner so should hopefully be ok. Idk tbh whenever I have anything out of warranty it tends to cost me £3-4k/a could be just the cars I've had tbf.1 -

Finance wise I think as we ease out of lockdown I will probably be a little more relaxed, the main thing is the debt is pretty much gone. I think what I need once it is gone is a little reset in terms of setting a budget and doing a monthly review. I need to make sure that I put away a set amount to cover the yearly expenses, some towards emergency funds and then I am comfortable then knowing what ever else after our normal monthly stuff is ours to enjoy then
Hope the recovery is going well mate1 -
What a lovely long weekend that was ☀️☀️☀️, wind down now ready to attack a new work week. I have really enjoyed this little break and got to spend it with the family. Saturday we had drama with the little one and brunch in the sun. I also managed to cut the grass whooooop....although did need to buy a new mower. Yesterday we decided to take the little one to her first soft play for well over 14 months and she loved it, followed by spending way to much in IKEA 🤣 and a nice family meal out with a few shopping treats. Today has been a bit more relaxed enjoyed a nice walk and sorted out some stuff in house followed by a nice bbq and a few drinks. The little one is well and truly worn out, yesterday must have been good for her as she woke up and thanked me for a lovely day haha kids eh. The budget will have taken a few bumps this weekend but nothing that can’t be covered and was very much worth it. It was so nice to be out as a family enjoying things with as much normality as can be these days
Budget wise all direct debits that were due have come out, this leaves two remaining council tax on 5th and broadband 12th both put aside already. My budget has held up quite well this month and the car service and mot wasn’t as damaging as I worried it might. Moving into June I want to start looking at how much I want to be putting towards savings, I want to get to a place now where I’m content at what is being saved and also all bills covered so that what is left can go to enjoying life and the fun things a bit too. We have done all the hard work so it’s about balance now.
Not much else planned for tonight really, I have prepared all clothes for work in morning, also made overnight oats for a breakfast in the morning so hopefully will save rushing around in the morning.Hope everyone has had a great weekend.3 -

Keep up with the recovery, I know it is hurtful when the boy acts out like that but keep putting in the effort and hopefully it will pay off mate.1 -

This morning he only wants boiled egg cooked by his mum fml and I get the full ‘leaving tantrum’ all because I’m going in to work - how he thinks the bills get paid idk. Honestly mate he’s a !!!!!! nightmare.

I think a relaxing Sunday is what is happening today.
This week as been a bit of a meh week, dunno what it was just didn't feel myself. The work week was a bit of a busy one so maybe that was it.
Yesterday was a much better day though and now feeling okay again. We took the little one to drama and now she's a little older she has moved up groups so now does a longer session. We took advantage of this and did our shopping as well as having breakfast and a nice catch up sat in the sun. Following drama we got chippy for dinner and went and sat and had a 'picnic' lol in the local park and then let little one run of more energy.
Hope every one has a lovely day1 -
Hey All,
Seems such a long time since last update, I have kind of just been lurking in the background really and plodding along. It has been a bit of a weird month since last posting really and although there is no massive need for me to panic, I don't feel as in control finance wise as I have recently. I am not sure why this is possibly just the fact stuff is re-opening and I am spending again and not really actively tracking spends like I was. Also feel like my own personal goals and work goals are going out of focus too, so a pretty meh month on that front. My workload at present just seems insane, but it is all the catching up on stuff other colleague should have done but neglected it because they were not bothered anymore! Grrr. I have started to feel my self slipping back into old habits to make myself feel better, the odd C*sta here and there on a morning, the odd takeout for lunch and soon it mounts up. It also weirdly makes me feel pretty crappy about myself as well, surely the junk food isn't any good for me....on top of that, the alcohol consumption this month being way higher than normal...not worrying levels but defo something I do not want to escalate.
Anyways, time to plan and refocus my energy for a better me! I am going to take some time today to focus on some weekly goals, monthly goals and work goals. It might sound a bit strange but Bullet Journalling is something I seem to have all of a sudden taken an interest in. The idea of getting down to do lists, plans, goals is something that I like, plus I can get creative. I think moving forward I plan to have a daily task list, Weekly Tasks and maybe a monthly goal. I like the idea of an habit tracker to monitor maybe healthy stuff and also pick up the not so healthy ones! I tend to slip into old me mode when I am feeling a bit rubbish so I need to work on this so i don't wreck the past two years progress.
Today
( ) Look at my daily, weekly to do list
( ) Work Meeting regarding some contractor stuff
( ) Update Diary
( ) Plan rest of month budget
Tracker
( ) Drink 2 litres of water
( ) Eat home made lunch and actually come away from my desk!
( ) Spend time reading little one a bed time story...seems forever since i did this
No more ramble, time to finish my morning cuppa and crack on with the day! Here is a to a newer me haha. Hope everyone has a fab day1 -
Morning @FootyFanDan
You know what, I'm exactly the same right now. I'm unmotivated and just can't be bothered right now. Payday seems like months away
I also have been having the odd coffee from our coffee van in the mornings, £2.75 for an ice latte. I had 4 last week. I used the demotion tool on here and nearly died
Also, I had the same issue with eating at my desk at work but I would get asked work related questions on my unpaid half hour break. Petty I know but i started either going outside when it's sunny or just sitting in my car when it rains!

Hi Dan its a long slog, and sometimes you just got to take a slow month. extra coffees every day every month would be bad, but one now and again is OK, as long as you give yourself a good talking to afterwards so it doesn't get into habit.
I may have to go to London for some work, which will be the first time for a long time, but the thought of a cheeky Pret flat white and sandwiches on expenses is the most excitement I've had for a while. Football excepted, and that was glorious until it wasn't
don't beat yourself up about it, but listen to your "inner Martin" when it says enough is enoughI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine0
