alt80 said:Good stuff re the BB/ BT Sports deal - tbh I’ve had a complete change in attitude over saving small amounts on things didn’t used to give a !!!!!!. Listened to a podcast - someone else in property but a lot more big time massively changed my perspective essentially little things compounding into bigger ones and compound growth. Not gonna lie not a revelation to me but I’ve always neglected my personal finances/ personal life too really. Anyway point is - keep up the good work.1

@FootyFanDan it’s a mindset thing I think mate. Do I need to worry about saving £20/m on broadband - not really you probably don’t either but it’s about seeing some value from what you’ve worked for I think. Tbh I’ve never going to start driving something that gets 30mpg and costs £20 to tax a year to save a few quid but really reassessed whether other stuff is getting me value for money rather than just spending out for no real reason. Lot of my problem I’ve got no self respect and no self control. Always said I’ll address stuff in my personal life and stop being self destructive when I’m ‘successful in business’ couldn’t see the fact the wheel keeps turning everyone getting paid etc means it is ok and I’m doing ok.2

And that is 4 nights done
Thank god! haha. Hope everyone is doing okay after the latest round of information coming through. Hopefully the end is in sight. I have come to a decision re my spotify and just cancelled it, I can do with the adverts for the time I listen to it tbh - I am more of a podcast person now anyways or I will listen to audio books. So that will save me another £119.98 if I can keep up to the cancellation of it. I am also looking at taking of the kids package from Sky as we have disney plus and netflix which is more than enough stuff plus my kid loves her you tube so plenty to occupy when she does watch stuff. This is only £5 per month but she hardly watches the kids channels - so that will be another £60 per year saved. In addition I have PS plus online sub which I normally pay £6.99 per month which whilst is a small monthly amount is nearly bloody £90!!! haha - whilst i certainly get money out of I play online loads - I have cancelled the auto renew and when I get paid I will take money out of personal spends and buy annual pass which should save me aprox £35-40 per year.
I appreciate this is only small monthly stuff and not alot in the grand scheme of things but this is something I would never have weighed up before because I think why paid out right when I can pay small monthly amounts, its only when you work it out that you see how much it actually is. So if i can stick to my plans my new annual savings are
Sky channel removal - £60 per year
Spotify - £119 per year
PS Network - £35-£40 per year
So another £214 per year saved, meaning so far I have saved £689 off my annual costs so far. This again might seem small wins but that is pretty much over half my debt gone if I used the savings I am making. Plus I have a wage increase to factor in too so I am hopeful that I can get rid of debt once and for all and put focus on to saving for an house. Quick question - what age is too late to be thinking of a mortgage - this might be in your area of expertise @alt80

If you look at those small savings as earnings, then you have earned £689 for a few hours workMFW 2022 #71 £4400/£44002

And in true my life fashion we have a item to replace possibly. So yesterday after a few weeks of trying to decide between a washer/dryer and just a dryer we finally opted and had delivered a shiny new tumble dryer yesterday. So of course the first wash we do today...our bloody washer breaks! You literally couldn't write it haha0

I know its doesn't help, but in an active family, a washer dryer often doesn't get through it quickly enough. So whilst I feel your pain - its still the right decision to go separateI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Up nice and early today - lovely crisp ground frost on the floor. I was in bed early (well early for me) Little one was struggling to sleep so fell asleep on our bed, we are going to have one tired home-school day today lol. I was wide awake @ 2:45am!. In more positive news I have managed to get the washing machine door open, it was the latch broken so purchased an new handle this should fix the problem
I have also sold old car, only managed £450 but it was going to just sit there and person is a good friend so at least this will cover majority of insurance on my new car when due for renewal in March.
I will probably check in again later - have a great day
