    And your health is priceless

Yeah agreed, if i am being honest i probably am not looking after myself as much as i should in terms of food intake, exercise and rest. It is something i need to get a grip on

    Evening All,

I have paid another £10 today towards paying of the most urgent debt taking the total now down to £179 for that debt. I plan to maybe make another payment on Friday and that should take close to having paid it off. This has meant sacrificing the mum debt but I can hopefully make that back up.

    July Targets

    * Pay off remaining £179 to urgent debt
*Try get 10 NSDs ( this is a little lower than I would like but think I can build up from there)
*Take lunch to work more than I currently do.
    * Try no C*sta coffees for a month(IF I can hit this I would be super impressed! )
    * IF possible try pay half of remaining balance to Mum on payday.

I must admit i have managed to limit myself quite a lot with coffee since i started this journey, i still think i spend too much on the eating out front but we will see how i go with this. I believe the journey will get harder as when i have less money to play with so how i adapt could be interesting. Although i am really happy with the progress i have made in less than a month.
  • Well done on how much you have paid off of your debt so far - nearly 10% in your first month :D

I admire your stance on the takeout coffee, some people do best with going cold-turkey on a regular habit; my OH is like that with anything he is trying to cut down on - chocolate, cheese, wine, caffeine - and prefers to have none rather than just less.

But it doesn't work for me as I either feel deprived and grumpy, or I get into a boom or bust situation. So for me it's better to know that I can have it - just not today. So with takeout coffee I decided that I could have one but it was to be on Friday and then it was a treat and something to enjoy. And then I changed it to once a fortnight and finally bought a reusable cup and nice coffee and made a better coffee at home and work for much less money.
I also put the saved money into an online savings account daily and after a few months used it to wipe out a small debt. I don't do it anymore as it's now normal not to have the coffees but it was such a motivational tool to see the money grow.

:D the progress this month as been great, i think most months i will be aiming at about 5% off my debt total but we shall see how it goes. On a normal month i don't think i will be able to sustain paying off so much but this good start as certainly helped.

If i am being honest i think i will probably go to maybe one on my last working day as a treat :rotfl::rotfl: i just saw this as a target area based on how much i was spending on it which never seems much in singles but over a month mounts up. I have been doing the resuable cup and having a decent coffee in work and that as worked quite well. Great idea with putting what i would normally spend towards a small debt at least it then will seem like giving up is useful.

I hate the feeling sometimes of i am missing out on stuff and think i have a bit of a issues with wants and needs, though i do keep saying if i can stick this for 6 months on a stricter budget then i could be in a whole better place than ever before so at the minute that is my motivation

    Mornng All,

Looks like gunna be another nice day :j

Not much planned for today which should mean a NSD..and the 1st one of the month. Yesterday took a few trips to the tip so had to put petrol in car, also visited Mum and did some shopping so not a huge spendy day but certainly not the NSD i am looking for.

Got a few days off work now so hopefully spend some family time together and enjoy that before going back on Sunday night to work.

Its been not even a month and the turn around seems strange...makes me think my income hasn't changed much the last year or so, i wonder why i have struggled to do this before maybe its just will power...or maybe having a place to be accountable for my actions. I haven't had to cut back anywhere near as much as i thought..YET :rotfl:

    Have a good day all
  • Enjoy the sunshine and the family time :)

I think it's a mindfulness thing, you start to notice where little bits (sometimes big bits) of money get spent and then you question whether they are necessary or just habit, or if you got anything from it really.

I deffo agree with this joey, I think before if I wanted something I would get it without worrying about the impact on finance/debt. Now I think if I don't get this treat right now I can pay X amount of the debt and this seems to be working. However I think eventually it will be a mix of both, sounds silly but I don't want my partner and daughter having to have no fun just coz of silly errors I made before they were a part of my life.
